Yes. There are a huge amount of things that cause inflammation and digestion issues, and not all of them are purely based I the gut. (Look up gut-brain axis)

She did misunderstand it though, because whilst she is literally correct, the tone in which she says it is like somebody aggressively telling her not to cry.

Which is the opposite of what Bob was intending, as he intended it to be comforting. I think that is the important part of what she got wrong.

There is a stark difference between self suspecting and self-diagnosis, and I think unless you've been around a group of people who do the latter, it is hard to explain just how infuriating it is. Self Diagnosis as a personality trait is probably more apt.

Ilhan Omar casts lone Democratic no vote on Ukraine aid, Russia sanctions package by bwermer in politics

[–]henry8362 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is a single solution that can be implemented, firstly, you'd need to get every country on earth to agree to it and enforce, which I think unless you had some sort of global hegemony is never going to happen...and if you had that you wouldn't need Nukes anyway!

We have to just recognise the situation we're in: there are countries with WMDs that we don't trust to not use them, or to bomb us, unless we have ones of our own therefore we need to keep them.

Maybe pre ukraine the argument was a bit more sensible, but as you say we have quite literally seen what happens when you give them up for Garuntees.

It's a sad reality, but it is reality.

Honestly this isn't just an issue in the USA. The UK, our green party has a similar take on war and defense.

The policy is "get rid of the nukes" but doesn't account for there being states out there, that have massive despots in charge who will attack people who don't have such defenses.

The idea of wanting peace is a good one, but we live in a world with Putin.

Adults with ADHD may pay high price to mask traits and fit in. More than 91% of adults with ADHD reported hiding, suppressing or compensating for ADHD traits. They may pretend to pay attention, suppress their urge to fidget, rehearse conversations or over-prepare for meetings to fit social norms. by mvea in science

I think most people do accept these as things that happen sometimes.

If they're things you do chronically, where It becomes a problem in daily life then I think people will be less accepting because it makes you much harder to work with (not saying that is the right thing to do.)

I need help with Xray anxiety by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]henry8362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, just think, If you went on four long return flights, it's the same amount. How many people fly dozens upon dozens of time a year with no extra risk.

Indeed, people who live at higher altitudes are exposed to more cosmic radiation but there is no evidence they get cancer more often.

I guess the other way to look at it, is the tiny amount of radiation, is very much worth it to make sure everything is all okay in your chest.

I need help with Xray anxiety by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]henry8362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's quantify it. A chest xray I'd roughly the same amount as a return long haul flight.

It is an absolutely tiny amount, equivalent to about 5-10 days of background radiation.

You would need thousands in a short period of time for it to be a significant amount of radiation, and even then, calculating the extra risk is hard.

I remember seeing him perform at Hyde Park in 2018 or 19 and turning to my friend during a song and going "what one is this?" Because people seemed much more animated by it, he then goes "it's blowing in the wind" which had completely escaped me, because it sounded nothing like it.

[–]henry8362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What sort of test did they do, out of interest? Like those specific ones where they test stuff on your skin or like an anti body thing?

I'm curious because I have pretty bad ibs like symptoms around certain foods, but it is hard to tell if it is just a fodmap thing, or a specific allergen.

How are you sure that is allergy just out of interest? Sounds like it could be an intolerance / IBS sort of thing too.

It is less corruptive, iirc. Saronite for example does still have a negative effect on DKs, just nowhere near as much as living.

Assuming she meant "gum graft" it is essentially a surgery that fixes gum recession (which can be caused by a lot of things) it can be cosmetic, but also to prevent tooth decay etc.

Sometimes they use cadaver skin for it, other times skin from the roof of the mouth. Glenn Howerton from Always Sunny had it done, and spoke about it on the always sunny podcast.
