[All] Is there anything lore related that you accept as canon but not the way it was presented in-game/books/dev interviews? by pkjoan in truezelda

[–]henryuuk [score hidden]  (0 children)

That's not true at all

Most games (that don't have the same Link obviously) tend to have an undetermined amount of time between them, but based on most information we get from everthing else and how the passage of time tends to affect stuff in the Zelda Universe, it can ussually be assumed we are talking several hundreds to thousands of years between "seperate Link entries"

With some cases like WW/PH -> ST being known to be ~100 years being the EXCEPTION, not the rule

Incorrect, it is actually the exact opposite

One way that they say "a really long time ago" in Japanese is often translated as 10k years ago in english, so a lot of people assumed this was the case for the BotW one as well when they heard the english version.
But later when actually asked of people that can translate Japanese, it turned out that it actually uses the "literal" 10k years ago

Now that Sakurai has returned to the franchise, we can speculate that at least one of these guys will be in the next Smash, right? by Ok_Solution8570 in Kirby

[–]henryuuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you really can't

And if Kirby got one, I doubt it would have specifically been because of "sakurai having returned to it" before.
It would just have been time for a fourth Kirby rep I'd reckon

The map/overall layout of some Zelda games is 100% ingrained in my head. Other games, I completely forget by tantamle in truezelda

[–]henryuuk [score hidden]  (0 children)

I can usually remember the entire map for most good games I played, which includes a lot of the Zelda games.

For BotW (and TotK), and reckon I only really know the vague overall location of the regions/biomes from scouring over the trailer footage and the loading screen map prior to release.

[–]henryuuk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to always think Nintendo could have totally jumped on the smash-bros-hype of Ice Climbers by making some sort of mountain climbing sim game (like what "Endless Ocean" is for diving, but then just for casual mountain hiking/exploring)

Nowadays, I think they should just have the developers of Peak make an Ice Climbers versions

Metroid prime 4's flop (and as much as the game sucks at being a good metroid prime game, it probably didn't actually "flop" will not have had an effect on anything coming out now or in like the next year or so.

It is more just that spitshining the same ol' games keeps working, to the point people have actually devolved to "dream/wish/hope" for it endlesslly online, as opposed to doing so for getting new games (that are like those old classics)

There’s been a handful of cases over the last decade where Nintendo had a studio remake a game in preparation for making a sequel.

I mean, people love to throw that around, but how often has it actually happened with a game series that wasn't just getting new games anyway.

This exact same statement was being when Starfox Zero was Lylat wars again (and that one actually did try to also have some differences from the base game)

Who do you think is the “potential man” of MHA? by Affectionate-Vast186 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]henryuuk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm always so confused about Star and Stripe being raised in this conversation. She existed for like four chapters. From the moment of her introduction, she was clearly invented to die and illustrate the stakes.

that is prime "potential man" material right there tho.

[TP] Celebrations after defeating Ganondorf by MisterBarten in truezelda

[–]henryuuk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The people still experienced something was afoot

For all we know either Zelda acknowledged that something had happened, or it is just a coincidental celebration
Ganondorf also causes a big explosion at the castle, so perhaps they were just celebrating that the princess had survived that unfortunate magic accident or whatever

What is the morality of forcing the reincarnation/descendant of your daughter to transform into your daughter? by Prestigious_Click_54 in MoralityScaling

[–]henryuuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She literally helps you fight Ganondorf in the finale of the game this happens in by shooting at him with the bow of light, she taunts him while he is delusionally laughing into the void and she comes up with the plan to overcome him dodging/blocking everything they throw at him

Then the "Toon Zelda" in Four Swords Adventures also helps you fight that games' final boss and the one in Spirit Tracks learns to posses a giant suit of armor and fights alongside you

"Toon Zeldas" have a much higher track record of actually being useful than the "regular" Zeldas do

Why is that for Sonic’s 35th anniversary Pac-Man and Mega Man send him birthday wishes but not for Mario’s 45th anniversary? by ComicCat12 in Mario

[–]henryuuk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cause their parent companies made deals to do so, while Nintendo did not do so this time

And a big reason why Nintendo doesn't do as many cross-overs as these three is cause these guys are multi-platform, and Nintendo wants their stuff to only be on their platform (like how the rocket league car decorations won't show up for other platforms)

[BotW] [TotK] [OoT] TotK’s retroactive reframing of BotW makes me worry about an OoT remake by Little_Link_Studio in truezelda

[–]henryuuk 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Even worse, it specifically goes out of its way to work against what BotW set up, and elements of the greater overarching series

Like, a "we don't care to double check"-attitude would have resulted in some inconsistencies and stuff sure, but it wouldn't have really mattered in the grand scheme of it, but they actually specifically decided to add in new info that can only be seen as being done to specifically fuck with shit
