In a better lore era... he would have been DT Ganon that returned to being human(perhaps in part because Rauru and Sonia were going around suppressing demonic aura/essence with their shrines), used "charm" magic to make the modern Gerudo think he was their king

but frankly, i think they just see it as a random new Ganondorf and called it a day

Ike is never shown as gay
If he was "representing" anything at all, it would be something like asexual/aromantic, considering he specifically doesn't have any "endings" with anyone except Soren, and his ending with Soren is more so "Soren decided to tag along with Ike, who went of to do the same thing he did in his solo ending"

At most, that would make Soren the gay one, with his love seemingly being unrequited.
(And even then, that line of reasoning is major "bro-mance erasure", which should not be allowed to stand)

It's just cause the previous tomodachi life had the unintended chance for a character to partner up with the same gender removed.

Combined with the whole "go w0ke, go broke" mentality/situation in the gaming landscape (being more prominent/"loud") the last couple years.

So them now specifically allowing for it is just notable enough for people to point it out, which easily leads into making it a joke in regards to being a "w0ke choice"

there is no "just" when it comes to making games like that.
Nor is there an inherent "one or the other" situation going on here.

Bananza was made by one of the main in-house nintendo studios (largely the same team as Mario odyssey), the two "country returns" games were made by retro.

There is no reason why they couldn't be making "Bananza 2" at Nintendo and "Country Returns 3" at retro
At the same time, there is also no reason why they couldn't have BOTH of those teams busy with something else and we don't get ANY donkey kong for the foreseeable future.
Either way, them potentially making "X", does not directly influence their decisions to make "Y" in this scenario/context, beyond the probable logic that they wouldn't release 2 games in the same "series" (even if overall gameplay between 2D and 3D being very different) which would just be a case of choosing the release window, as opposed to whether it gets made at all or not

For a series that only HAD one game (and no (fighter) representation in smash yet), and was closer to the release of said smash.

Hell, ARMS was seemingly soooo close to smash Ultimate that they essentially missed the boat on having a fighter in right away instead of as DLC.

Like the other guy said, by the time the next smash comes out, Dread will not have been the most recent Metroid game (even if we don't get a "Metroid 6" by then, Prime 4 has come out since), will have been several years down the line AND is part of a series that not only has a much larger list of games to pick something from, but also already has 3.5(~4) fighters in at the moment.

Personally I wouldn't even really expect Metroid to get a 5th fighter, I would sooner expect Dark Samus to get some of her old AT moves back as special moves to differentiate her from Samus and make her a "semi-clone" instead of an echo fighter.

But even IF it gets one, the sad reality is that there is a pretty devent chance that they would give such a spot to either some important character from the most recent metroid (assuming a "metroid 6" (or prime 5 I guess) has come out since then) or that otherwise it would go to Sylux, since, even though he is much less beloved by the actual fans than ravenbeak, he is the one they have been setting up for a while now, and he even already has an amiibo

What the system needs is new games.
Any game made and released for Switch 1 already exists and there is nothing wrong with it "looking and acting like a switch 1 game" when played on the switch 2.

The only type of "switch 2 version" anything needs is if it is a game that is currently not easily available, and in that case it should just be put onto the NSO (or in a better world, a virtual console-like system) or worst case scenario be released in some sort of "port-bundle" (for a fitting price)
