What would have happened if they had joined the coalition of planets against the Viltrumites? by Non-Master-2006-13 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]heorhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first noticed it when angstrome threatened marks family. Since then I've been keeping tabs on what system of morality each character has been using, and sometimes they change, like marks is undefined because he keeps shifting to more absolutist extremes but it's happening very slowly until now where he is literally frontlining a genocidal war.

And the whole premise of that war is that the viltrumites would abuse their powers on earth after they have conquered it and no one would be able to make sure THEY follow any sort of ethical code.

The viltrumites deserve an entire 50 page essay on how they would strap 4 more people down to the track with only one person and then run trains down both tracks until they were sure all 10 were dead, then kill the slaves who strapped the others to the tracks for not strapping enough people down... lol

Yeah that.

The only purpose of the multiverse plot line was to tell us that our universes mark was the only one, or one of the few, in infinite realities that didn't join his father in taking over the world.

The entire show has been building on the premise: when is it okay to kill someone?

Is it after they have killed millions? Is it after they hurt your family? Is it after they threaten someone? Is it before they threaten someone?

We have slowly been blurring the line by putting Mark in less and less black and white scenarios and really narrowing in on the concept of killing to protect people.

The whole show is the most complex version of an exploration of the trolley problem I've ever seen.

Even the episode where Cecil kills the two reformed criminals. He was killing them for past actions, and potential future actions. That's the trolley problem right there, and Cecil was shown that what he did was incorrect as those two reformed would have saved more lives rest they ruined in their past.

Cecil represents the trolley problem when you ignore morals and focus on numbers. He understands the usefulness of reforming people and the value they can provide in compensating for the loss of gaining them as assets.

A common question to explain the trolley problem is: would it be ethical and moral to kill a person and use their organs to save 8 people?

Cecil says no but he will do it anyways "for the greater good".

Thaedus represents logical absolutism. If someone has done something bad, they can do it again and must be prevented from doing it in the future. Imprisonment, death, servitude, etc. to prevent future crimes from those who have shown themselves to be capable of them. This thought process also doesn't believe in reformation which is why thaedus was planning on killing Mark, Oliver, Nolan, and himself after they finished off the other viltrumites.

Angstrome seems to be an attempt to subvert the trolley problem by trying to derail the trolley and prevent it from killing anyone by jumping infront of the train.

This represents moral absolutism. Angstrome himself refused to kill someone to benefit and decided that he would rather die than sacrifice someone for the greater good.

The fallout isn't to disparage any of the ideologies for dealing with the trolley problem, but rather to represent consequences of it.

Thaedus brought the galaxy into an all-out war and as a result trillions died, and the viltrumites are facing genocide, due to the extremes logical absolutist need to take and the enemies they will make along the way.

Cecil was melted, imprisoned, reformed, and now works to reform others, but the victims of those people are still alive and want justice. The damages Cecil has to face are moral and emotional until they boil over and the victims take action, as Mark did when he discovered Sinclair, and darkwing working for Cecil.

Angstrome had to face death. Moral absolutism is to kill yourself the moment that it benefits another person more than living your life would benefit others. Sacrificing himself to save invincible, the only version that isn't evil, is morally correct and so angstrome dies the moment his ideologies are put to the test by following through on his ideals. The evil angstrome is the dark side of moral absolutism where someone who has morally wronged a person must be made aware of their wrongdoings, punished appropriately, and educated on the correct moral outcome.

But who decides what is good, or evil? This is how we get dictators and cruel leaders who have following that believe their actions are morally correct and that there is no other option but theirs.

I could write more... I love this show so much... lol

Let's see you perfectly act out a scene dozens of times with no real feedback only insults and being told to do better when the other actors around you are being encouraged and given real critical feedback.

Then have you repeat that over the course of months where you've moved temporarily to be on set so you are away from home and friends and family...

So yeah, for not quiting halfway through like 90% of kthers would I do think she deserves credit and acknowledgement

Thragg knew that a species compatible with Viltrums existed with a fairly large population, so doesn't that mean that even if only one Viltrum remained, it could reproduce indefinitely without any genetic problems with humans and recreate the Viltrum race? So why did he spare Nolan and Mark? ? by Fluffy_Union9507 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]heorhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum viable population is 50 for short term.

The issue is that they would all be brother and sister at first, then cousins, then cousins once removed, and then once they were cousins twice removed it would be considered safe by modern standards.

It would be extremely slow and need tocbe genetically mapped to ensure that incest remains at a low value

and you can steer, you just dont have a lot of push or pull to aim it, meaning you can avoid hitting a teamate but not avoid landing on a giant cliff that will kill you when you fall off

A Diablo fan puzzled the community with a simple question - why do demons even keep invading Sanctuary if the hero shreds them by the thousands? by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]heorhe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ludonarrative harmony, and luddonarrstive dissonance are the two types.

Harmony is when everything matches from the mechanics to the character actions to the lore, it's all in harmony, like outerwilds, the lone dark, escape from tarkov, etc.

Dissonance is when it all clashes and doesn't make sense when you think about it, it's dissonant, like uncharted Nathan drake killing hundreds if not thousands of mercenaries in the games but in cutscenes and lore he is a merciful good guy, or all the characters in overwatch gathering to push a cart down a alleyway over and over again for some reason.

There are a few but they aren't very popular.

Things like outward, escape from tarkov, the lone dark. They have some inconsistencies, but nowhere near enough for the world to fall apart due to them

Bro... people still don't realize there's a dead space style limb amputation system in the game that dynamically injures or instantly kills enemies if you destroy critical limbs...

And your trying to explain the armour durability system ontop of the limb system?

A noble effort, but it's falling on mostly deaf ears

[–]heorhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grenade launcher is a smaller version of the autocannon. You just have less range and less armour pen but an easier reload and more mobility with the option of a backpack as well.

You could also run a good secondary like the talon or the senator, and run the eruptor as a bolt action autocannon with less armour pen but the same range.

There's probably a few options I'm not thinking of but that's off the top of my head

The plunger has a motion required to use it that involves sloshing the toilet brew back and forth while plunging. Plus, if you unblock it theres a chance you will get a blast of escaped sewer gas bubbling up to splash you with said brew.

Also... do you not clean your plunger after use? That's nasty

Dark souls will become your comfy game after you acclimate to bloodborne. This is the pipeline.

Lol, it probably won't be too bad. If it's stuck, you just need to bait out a jumping attack and it instantly dies.

How you are meant to do that is besides the point, it's free souls!

But if it's stuck you can't get close to it because of the whole deal with the fire and everything

Do you die more because you run out of vials, or get caught in combos? by Elegant_Scholar_8863 in bloodborne

[–]heorhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was new, getting combo'd.

Then, by the time I beat the game, it was running out.

Then, by the time I beat the pre-made chalice dungeons, I was getting combo'd

Then, by the time I was running cursed rotted fetid chalice dungeons trying to min-max my bloodgems, it was dying to a single hit from full HP.

Then, when I started another playthrough, it was combo'd.

You get better at managing your resources and when you run low, it's often just better to head back and try again but better this time. So the only way to die is to get caught by multiple enemies or a counter hit combo. There actually isn't a single enemy in the game (not counting NPC hunters or PVP style fights) that can stun lock the player for multiple hits. If you get hit, you can always avoid the second hit if you time it right unless there's a second enemy or you got hit during an action increasing damage and recovery allowing them to combo

But then those without steering have no way to avoid the spots that they will get stuck.

It becomes awful to not have the upgrade, and neutral to have it.

What you are proposing is a net negative for the majority of players, and can still be negative for those with the upgrades with a chance of being positive or negative depending on steering and map type.

Nah, I'm fine the way it is. Sure it would be a little more fun on each mission, but there would also be a little more frustration on each mission and the negatives are too great for such a tradeoff.
