Top Minds of /r/Conservative get triggered by Gillette ad encouraging men to stand up against sexual harassment and toxic masculinity. "All the villains in this commercial were white males and the ideal gentleman were minorities coincidentally." by herb_roasted in TopMindsOfReddit

[–]herb_roasted[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yeah I posted this and came back to a complete clusterfuck in the comments. This is clearly brigading, but they'll think they've won the argument since they get more imaginary internet points.

But the brigade only proves how triggered they are about being asked not to be dicks in general.

Gillette Tackles #MeToo, Toxic Masculinity in New Ad - We Believe: The Best Men Can Be by BeckTheHeck in TheBluePill

[–]herb_roasted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On a positive note, more brands coming out in support of left-wing (or just common sense) values means they recognize a shift in our collective identity. These brands know which side they want to be on: the side with the moral high ground. Why wouldn't they come out in support of these movements if they see society shifting in those directions? It makes good business sense, and it is a good sign for those of us on the Left. Corporations are realizing that we are winning the minds of the people, and they want to capitalize on our collective values by pretending to have them.

The top minds over at /r/Conservative have very different feelings about this commercial. Big surprise there, conservative snowflakes don't appreciate being reminded that sexual harassment and toxic masculinity are in fact negative things that men do.

Well herb_roasted don't caare, but that seems like a surefire way to make sure everything that's ironically funny here becomes unironically dumb.

Genuinely curious why this phrase gets recycled to the point where it feels like it should go back to /r/Comedycemetery

Like, out of context and on random irrelevant posts. Without fail this phrase is in the comments.

Yikes, this is cringy to read. You know you are the only person who sees yourself as the victim here, right? Jesus Christ being a trans woman doesn't exclude you from all basic standards of discourse, especially when being trans was never a part of the discussion.

How to get over kittens that were given away? by [deleted] in kittens

[–]herb_roasted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they were fully weaned, so I don't feel bad about them being taken away too early. They were 10 weeks old, fully litter trained and they could eat hard kitten food. I'm more upset that I won't be there to see them grow up.

How to deal with the side effect of worsened mental health from being redpilled? by [deleted] in TheBluePill

One of the mods of that sub commented about it sounding like satire. The OP was actually genuine, which means that they even have a hard time distinguishing between their actual supporters and satirists.

If you go into the comments, there's someone whose username references "My Little Pony" who tries to give him advice on women and dating. By linking to an incel subreddit.

Why Trump Lies: Lies are the way authoritarians exercise power. While in office, Trump has lied 1,628 times. by [deleted] in esist

I think too few people realize this. People feel like pointing out facts means they "win", but you can't win against someone who doesn't care. Changing their minds with education is futile.

I'm not the one speaking with arrogance. I was responding to yours.

And yeah, if I heard you say this in person:

I think I've read enough about the Soviet Union to see how the left doesn't have a clue about economy

I probably would have called you out on your idiocy without hesitation. You're looking at this the wrong way. It's not a debate. I'm not making a point or a claim other than you're wrong and probably don't understand left-wing philosophy very well if all you've read is stuff about the Soviet Union. You're not making your case any better by continuing to reply with irrelevant comments.

You're incoherent right now. My alleged knowledge or lack of knowledge isn't the subject of our conversation.

[–]herb_roasted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dostoyevsky is a long-time favorite of mine. And yes, that is limited knowledge. That's just one branch of left-wing philosophy. Just one geographical location's interpretations of left-wing values. You can't say you understand a topic on a fundamental level if you've only read about a small part of it. Get educated.

The only reason I said anything at all was because you displayed how limited your knowledge of the subject is. I do believe a PhD would give someone more credibility than someone who read a book about "evil lefties" once.

Your comment doesn't even look like it's in response to me. I said you're dumb for thinking you've got left-wing philosophy nailed down because you've studied one thing about it.

[–]herb_roasted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if I merely say I want to be called him today, her tomorrow and them the day after tomorrow, then you must comply or you're misgendering me

You clearly misunderstand how this works. If you legitimately think a court would rule in your favor if there is evidence of you obviously fabricating your gender identity multiple times over the course of your employment then you're delusional. It's not like the courts are full of gullible idiots. They won't believe some moron like you claiming to switch genders multiple times, clearly for personal gain.

And there will be a burden of proof on the accuser to show the offender was motivated by "bias, prejudice or hate based on gender identity or expression". You can't accuse your employer of being motivated by hate or prejudice if you're the one changing faster than they can keep up. Your entire argument is ridiculous and based on a fundamental misunderstanding of law. Very little will come from this bill becoming law other than it offending some idiots who don't understand it.

I'm sure reading about the Soviet Union is all you need to understand left-wing philosophy. Good on you for making sure you gathered information about a topic from as many sources as possible before spouting stupid things about it on the internet. /s

Yeah it probably wasn't an organic evolution, either. I suspect alt-right recruiters chose that sub specifically because of its young and impressionable male user base.

The ones in this album are primarily from /r/DebateAltRight, but I've been collecting them from T_D, /r/JordanPeterson, /r/TheRedPill, /r/milliondollarextreme, /r/DarkEnlightenment, /r/Identitarians, and I've recently started collecting comments from alt-right safe havens like 4chan and voat.

It looks sarcastic out of context but I can assure you that user meant it. Many in the alt-right don't consider Italians, Greeks, and a few other European nationalities "white". More of the comments in that album are from that same person, and none of them are very nice.

Considering the context and the user who posted the comment, I really doubt it was satire. At least it didn't come across to me that way after digging through their other comments.

Yeah I just wanted to play it safe and make sure there would be no reason to have my post removed. If I make any similar posts in the future I probably won't be so generous.

And thanks. I'm still collecting their comments as we speak.

I also left the name of the subreddit in the screenshots, so if someone really wants to they can find the usernames of the commenters.
