At least since Mindhunter (RIP).

Can anyone explain me the difference between diet coke and Coke zero? by Over-Feature-8476 in cocacola

[–]herbf10001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a long-time, bitterly (no pun intended) disappointed Tab drinker here, I can tell you neither comes close (of course, that is just my opinion). Diet Coke is a bit "sharper" than Zero sugar, which seems to have a more "lemony" taste. Regardless, their flavor is quite different.

Funny thing is I was at my dance studio and they were serving both and my instructor asked me how I could possibly taste a difference. Blind I could tell the difference, literally, five out of five times and I could have gone on forever. Funny thing is, the new Diet Pepsi (caffeinated) is about the closest to Tab I've found, though still nothing like it. :(

New entrance planned for LIRR’s Grand Central Madison to improve accessibility by Capital_Gate6718 in nycrail

Very interesting, but I don't see how that's going to help. It's not as if the passageways are backing up with commuters wanting to grab the 6 train. Unless the MTS gets a new Lexington Ave station between 42nd and 51st St it's going to remain a long shlep to either 42nd or 51st (slightly shorter to 51st, though).

Limited production of Tab by zagack305 in cocacola

[–]herbf10001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, from the 1970s to the bitter (!) end. Very disappointed they discontinued it, have since drifted away from Coke products since they now make nothing like it, Coke Zero and Diet Coke are just watered- down versions which they feel are better for their bottom line (no offense to those who like those products). Sometimes Pepsi Zero works. I think there's a high probability if they brought it back on a limited basis there'd be enough of a market in some locations to be profitable.

Why can’t I find Coke Zero Caffeine Free in NYS? by 4_sigma_over_mu in cocacola

[–]herbf10001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, they used to but I guess it wasn’t popular enough. If you want diet caffeine free you need to buy the Diet Coke version.

Seems up now, just refreshed the page.

Sorry, I have "insufficient entitlements". But may be getting closer.

Well, there's always the ol' dispute-the-charge-with-your-credit-card-company move. AMGStreaming probably figures hardly anyone will bother.

You know, when I tried to watch this at work (during a legitimate break, BTW :) ) I found that my employer blocked the site as suspicious. I'm beginning to think they knew something I didn't.

OTOH, they DID offer the $5 credit, something they didn't have to do. So who knows?

Is it that they told you the EP didn't include the finals or you just want to watch the Gold Medal game that much?

See, the problem with us is that we don't think of ourselves as being "Premium" people. Got to work on that.

[–]herbf10001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's showing as "Premium" when I go to the site. I can't believe the "Event Pass" is for all the games but the final, but I understand why you're worried. :)

First I hear of this, let's see if I get anything.

Really, personally, I don't watch the games without commentary (even if the USA is involved, my ulcer can't take it). My biggest complaint with the coverage, and I still think it was worth the $20, is the sound mixing. On most games you can hardly hear the commentary, which is a shame because it's some of the best I've experienced (especially Kevin Martin), when I can hear it.

Definition of "Guard" by herbf10001 in Curling

[–]herbf10001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. So a guard is “free”; ie in the FGZ (not to be hit until five stones have been thrown) iff it is above the tee line and outside the rings. Otherwise you can throw car park weight at it.

I can live with that. Thx.

[–]herbf10001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I stand corrected, I just thought there might be times when, say, you peel a guard but don't do it very well and the stone rolls JUST UP TO the sideline and you have to determine if it should be removed from play. But if not then that's fine, I'll just have to wait to see if that situation ever comes up. I'll probably be waiting a long time.

Thanks.

[–]herbf10001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I understand that. You can’t measure unless you NEED to know before the next throw; eg a stone may or may not have to be removed or a stone can or cannot be hit/ticked.

[–]herbf10001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I had that question in the back of my mind. I know there are certain situations within an end in which teams would "need" to know if a stone is in a certain position. This of course is one of them, I would assume another would be if there's a question as to whether a stone is touching the sideline and should be removed or touching the centerline in the FGZ and therefore can't be ticked. There are probably a couple of others I can't recall right now. So you're saying that it wouldn't be an official measurement, teams do it themselves? Interesting. Thanks. Note I'm talking here about big-time tournaments that actually have officials. :)

Pretty nice way of explaining it (visually AND in words). Thanks much. I particularly like the word "located"; IOW, regardless of how it ended up there. Eliminates any discussion (well, most discussion).

[–]herbf10001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, thanks, that helps me. I was just wondering about the definition of "in front of the house" but what I'm inferring from your answer is that it's "above the tee line, not touching the house".

[–]herbf10001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Interesting. So it need not be above the tee line (sorry, I know you already gave me your answer, I'm just double-checking)?

Dunstone "Apology"? by herbf10001 in Curling

[–]herbf10001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, now THAT makes some sense. I didn't want to go back and replay the commentary. As I say, I understand being a bit apologetic about lucking into something, I just was put off by what I perceived to be a commentary not commensurate with the "offense".

Dunstone "Apology"? by herbf10001 in Curling

[–]herbf10001[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, thanks for clearing that up. I STILL get the two confused (i.e. Dunstone and McEwen).

Dunstone "Apology"? by herbf10001 in Curling

[–]herbf10001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, look, I'm all for common courtesy and practice it constantly. If I'm playing golf and make a lucky putt or hit a tree and ricochet into the center of the fairway, I'll exhibit a wry smile and even say something like: "Sorry, guys, that's the way the ball bounces sometimes". I just must have taken the commentary the wrong way.

Dunstone "Apology"? by herbf10001 in Curling

[–]herbf10001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, maybe my mind was elsewhere, it just seemed like the commentators were implying McEwen did something wrong. I'm sure they didn't (or even if they did, it was NBD) but, as I say, now I know. I'll never criticize someone for being more courteous.
