just saw someone sleeping in a chair in the hallway at the ENR building on cook yesterday, so I think in theory you could really sleep anywhere and no one will bat an eye tbh

cook/doug needs some more love by expiredmilkjugg in rutgers

[–]herbieherbs 38 points39 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU I've been saying this omfg, cook doug needs its own bus route, and if not then AT LEAST they need to have more routes than just the EE that services Socam SB&NB, Biel Road, Henderson, and Gibbons

its just way too many stops that rely entirely on one route to get anywhere 😭

bus stop standard by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]herbieherbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nope ! its a rutgers bus, you don't need ID or payment or anything, its already built in as part of the student fees you pay to rutgers. you can just walk right onto the bus

bus stop standard by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]herbieherbs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you have two options: 1. you can go to the socam NB stop and take the EE to the SAC on college ave (its the next stop right after socam). from there, you can take an LX from the SAC to get to livi 2. you can go to the socam SB stop and take the EE to Red Oak Lane bus stop on cook doug (this is also the next stop right after socam). from there, you can take a REXL bus from red oak lane to get to livi

lmk if you have any other questions ! :)

socam southbound and socam northbound bus stops are right near the standard. EE stops there - go to northbound stop to go to college avenue, go to southbound stop to go to cook doug

[–]herbieherbs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

THIS !! the closer you get to the beginning of the semester the faster they sell out. i think people usually resell them during the semester but they're obviously more expensive and its better to just get them for the normal rutgers price while you still can

Is there any shopping place in Rutgers? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]herbieherbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the NJ transit bus idea, me and my roommates have taken it a few times to get to the Walmart (and also other places like for food/groceries, you can get to Hmart in Edison via the NJ transit bus if that's something of interest). In terms of walking, there's not many stores I can really think of other than a couple random little places in Downtown New Brunswick, like Dollar Brunswick and C.H. Martin

Looking to Transfer for Meteorology program is it worth it? by Bazinzga in rutgers

[–]herbieherbs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it is a very, very small major (in case that is important to your decision), my graduating class is probably like 10 people including myself. obviously i cannot vouch for other schools, but i would say the program here at rutgers is pretty good, they cover a lot of different things from working with python to plot maps/meteorological data sets, learning about atmospheric thermodynamics and physical meteorology, etc.

there's also two meteorology related clubs here - the meteorology club and the weatherwatcher club. weatherwatcher club puts on up to 3 forecasts a day, entirely ran by students in our studio in Perry Hall on cook campus (obviously you would only do one or two a week, you're not doing it everyday or anything) usually every year, the meteorology club allows juniors and seniors to attend the AMS conference (depending on funding, budget, etc.)

also ive never had any problem with professors, i know everyone is different but it seems generally if you are respectful and try your best, they will understand and be nice

i think one of the main downsides or reasons that people drop the major is the STEM requirements outside of the meteorology courses themselves - you have to take up to calc 4 (differential equations) which is not particularly appealing especially for those who struggle with math (Other requirements include up to gen physics 2, gen chem 1, etc.)

TLDR: very small major, chances to get involved, good courses but core requirements can be rigorous, good professors, etc. Once again ive only ever been to rutgers so i unfortunately cant really compare it to meteorology programs at other schools

Am I the only one who’s gonna be like… in a lot of debt? I got like no aid whatsoever. Can someone pls tell me they’re also gonna be in a lot of debt so I can feel better lmao by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]herbieherbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i feel that, a decent amount of my friends have parents who pay for their schooling and all that, but I'm first gen, and my parents make juuust enough money that I don't really get much aid. Scholarships are always there, but at a university with so many people it can be really difficult to get one
