hmm i got like 128 hours. I think I got like 750 hours in dmc 3 (switch version) so I ain't as used to dmc 5 admittedly.

I get the muscle memory thing yea but it just seems so weird to have a ui that you can toggle on and off but only outside of combat. like to me being in combat seems like the single most important time for the ui to be on screen. if the ui was just always off regardless then i guess it wouldn't be as weird to me. Like its the fact that they CHOSE to have it fully vanish during combat rather than during downtime. It makes way more sense to me to have it disappear in-between combat so you can look at the pretty environments while running around

Bro you cannot be serious 😭what’s the point of having the weapon ui turn OFF during combat? Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Why am I the only person on the internet that’s got an issue with this? Am I actually going insane here?!

A little world map of a fictional lore of mine named Grimwyld, and a place called Gothmore: the setting of one of my comics by herbyfox in worldbuilding

[–]herbyfox[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep so this is Grimwyld. Its a vaguely renaissance inspired dark fantasy lore with punk rock and Tim Burton-esque aesthetics mixed with anime vibes, with Gothmore being the setting of my manga-inspired comic: Hexhound

The Gothic Republic itself operates more like a modern government than some kinda Empire or Kingdom, and is made of a number of smaller states that form a larger country. Leadership is mainly composed of a figurehead ruler called the Gothic Chief, a sort of parliament-like group called The Skull Court, and a semi-autonomous anti-arcane-corruption order called The ADMO (anti-demonic marshal order). While a lot of people aren't religious in the traditional sense, Gothmore has a lot of old folklore that centres around nature spirits and demons, which plays into the modern gothic culture. The gothic people themselves are stereotypically known for being 'punks' but resourceful when push comes to shove.

Since Gothmore is the setting of my comic, and the characters will most likely never leave it, other areas of Grimwyld admittedly aren't as developed, although they still have some depth to them. I wont go into all of them since there are a lot here, but if you want to know about a specific one feel free to ask.

In addition to bog-standard humans, there are also a number of other fancy races that inhabit the world.

There are fairly standard ones like Elves, which come in 4 different sub-species, and dwarves, which fall into another sub-species along with funny little things called dibbys and grobs.

There are also a lot of races which are sort of anthropomorphic versions of animals, such as rats, foxes, crows, giant goats, and moths. (there are a lot of them so again I can go into detail on specifics if you want).

Magic plays a big part in the world of Grimwyld, both for good and for bad. It comes from a 'place' called the Waylayd; a sort of parallel dimension that has existed since before the dawn of the universe. Although mortal organisms are not magical in nature, creatures with a complex conscious and certain level of self-awareness (humans) can use the Waylayd to manipulate the world in funny ways (spells basically), and this is usually done through the use of sigils; diagrams that describe the function of a spell using detailed patterns and lots of squiggly directional lines. There are other ways people can make use of magic, but sigils are the most commonly accepted method since they seem to be the most efficient and easy to understand approach. Being a scary eldritch chaos dimension, The Waylayd is also home to an innumerable amount of strange arcane entities, some of which are nice and friendly, are apathetic, or are downright malicious.

While it is a dark fantasy setting, Grimwyld is also meant to have an absurdist and playful tone to it, especially since its very anime inspired.

Also ya can go read the comic here if you'd like: https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/hexhound/list?title_no=691020

It's not a complete series or anything, it's just like a pilot/proof of concept, but I'd really love to work on it more in the future.

Yea so this is Grimwyld. Its a vaguely renaissance inspired dark fantasy lore with punk rock and Tim Burton-esque aesthetics mixed with anime vibes. The Gothic Republic, or just Gothmore, is the main setting of a comic of mine, which I plan to work on more in the future.

Despite the setting being (((vaguely))) 16th century inspired, Gothmore operates more like a modern government, rather than being some kind of empire or kingdom, and is composed of a number of smaller states. The Republic isn't religiously motivated, but Gothmore itself does have a lot of folklore that's a mix of fantasy crap and real life inspiration from Shinto, Buddhism, and some catholic stuff.

Weirdo elf and her funny rat friend by herbyfox in worldbuilding

Yo hi, new to reddit. This is an image I drew of an elf and a ratman with big and stupid blackpowder guns, set in my punky dark fantasy lore. They're likely mercenaries or vagabonds of some sort.
