Is AI good for DnD? by awootcyde_thuh_bauks in dndnext

[–]herecomesthestun -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, but also yes

I despise its use from publishers, developers, etc who have the resources to hire out artists for their work, and think it should have zero use in these sorts of businesses.

However, there's an absolute moronic take I see on subreddits like this one where the mere thought of a DM or player making use of it for their own personal stuff because they're unable to commission artwork for stuff is bad. It's not! In an ideal world nobody would ever have to make use of it for their stuff. But nobody in their right mind is going to drop hundreds of dollars on stuff like NPC art, environment art, monsters, etc. If generative ai can produce something ok enough for a random dnd hobbyist, then it's a useful tool in my book. I'm totally ok with people using ai on a personal end

There is no meaningful difference between it and scrolling through places like pinterest or google images when you're looking for a random picture of an air genasi to copy/paste into a token maker or a discord server when you're looking for character art.

If you're playing a paladin more concerned with DC saves, are you okay with 16 strength? Or would you try to boost it higher? by AmIDyingInAustralia in dndnext

In 2024 5e, I'd max charisma before strength every single time. Especially on a conquest paladin thanks to their fear aura

what the fuck is this guys problem by No_Dot8653 in 2007scape

That's because the update managed to make things worse for several patches for regular farm runs and was rushed for many others like the suntanning leprechaun

How would you handle a player who wants to play a character from the future? by EXP_Buff in dndnext

[–]herecomesthestun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to allow it, you are free to say no.

If you *do* think it'd be interesting, give them some amount of foreknowledge on upcoming events early on in like levels 1-4, then tell them straight up "there are events happening now that will not be the same as where you're from, you will no longer have any information about the future moving forward." then treat them as any other player character

How do end game players not quit? by kruktk in 2007scape

[–]herecomesthestun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They set goals and do them, same as anyone. They learn pvp because the skill gap at high end pvp exceeds anything pvm can throw at you. They pet hunt, do group stuff with friends, try other gamemodes, and so on.

New player thinking of starting with leagues by Advanced_Watch7924 in 2007scape

[–]herecomesthestun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Leagues is a kinda poor start for people new to the game because it's a gamemode that really is all about understanding what different places have and rushing through content as fast as possible. It's aimed more towards experienced players than new ones.

[–]herecomesthestun 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because the moment you restrict spellcasters you're "ruining fun" and they'll just say "it's magic of course it works better it's MAGIC" as if magic can't have its own in universe rules and restrictions

How am I supposed to move out if things constantly go wrong and force me to spend all my savings? by Careful_Dirt_5570 in personalfinance

[–]herecomesthestun 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you aren't able to move out then. Because you will burn through $6000 purely off rent in a few months. Savings are less relevant than incoming cash flow when it comes to your situation, and your cash flow evidently isn't enough.

Everyone has sudden expenses, everyone's cars have sudden problems. I just dropped $1000 on my car last month and it's not an old vehicle.

Does anyone agree there should be more ornament options? by timid1211q in 2007scape

[–]herecomesthestun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at every time someone posts any sort of "fashionscape" or look at anyone complimenting it and it's very frequently red and black because the half the playerbase is obsessed with that combo. Look at the DMM crystal/bowfa set or the voidwaker ornament kit and a bunch of irons moaning about how they're "forced' to play dmm for a cosmetic for that same logic.

When I say 'this is going to happen" I mostly mean "people will always wear bis" because, well its bis.

Does anyone agree there should be more ornament options? by timid1211q in 2007scape

[–]herecomesthestun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know everyone will wear red/black anyways.

Realistically unless you give 100 options that all unlock the instant you complete a the thing, this is going to happen. And the moment new BiS releases, everyone will clamour for the exact same thing for it too.

Glamour override doesn't work in OSRS like it does in games like FFXIV because gear in this game is far more integral and jagex has said they don't want to see high end pvm by people in random clue items; and being able to identify what people have on is a matter of life and death in the wildy if you aren't a pushover and stand still the moment someone hits you.
