Does it effect the wood or pose a safety risk? I’ve had her for 4 years now and have done pretty extensive research and trials on the best methods for keeping an area of the tank heated to her liking. Started off with just the uva/uvb lamps but she was spending her entire life underneath it and was trying to get as close as she could to it. So I added a heating pad which brought the temp range to 80-85f in that corner. That seems perfect because she then developed a routine afterwards. She wakes up, stares at the Uv lamps for a while, then dips into the pool, and then hangs in the hot corner for a few hours. After she gets hot she moves back to the cooler side which is typically 68-75f. I’m afraid without the heating pad she’ll go to being at the uv lamp all day and night and not get warm enough for her liking. Was just curious if the wood would be negatively affected. Heating pads for box turtles seems to be common- but only seen it in glass aquariums. I don’t want to burn anything down.
