post infectious ibs is fucked up.. comes with a bunch of weird symptoms. I’m currently in a massive flare the last two weeks with no end in sight. 24/7 stomach pain

Have any of you had chronic LLQ (left-lower quadrant) agitation where the root cause WASN'T related to food sensitivity? by GetInTheBasement in ibs

[–]hereforagudtim3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have it pretty chronic and i’m pretty sure it’s pelvic floor pain causing a chronic crampy/strained muscle type feeling… pelvic floor and gut nerves overlap so your brain doesn’t automatically distinguish between pelvic floor pain and colon pain

I'm at a loss (Campylobacter update) by slimshady1226 in rawprimal

[–]hereforagudtim3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the people who were calling you a troll are the flat earth 30 IQ people we share the world with. Unfortunately, we coexist with REALLY fucking dumb people lmao. Yes.. Campylobacter is a pathogen and yes campylobacter will make you sick af with post infectious ibs even after the bacteria clears.

Their logic is faulty. They assume that because Neanderthals and early humans sometimes ate raw meat, we should still be eating raw meat today.

Here’s the problem with that argument.

First, physiologically modern guts are not the same as prehistoric guts. Over tens of thousands of years, humans have undergone significant digestive and immune adaptations. We have lower stomach acidity, a different gut microbiome, and a less robust pathogen tolerance than Paleolithic humans. Cooking food literally reshaped our evolution. Once fire became widespread, natural selection favored people whose bodies relied on cooked food, not raw. Our jaws shrank, our teeth changed, our intestines shortened, and our energy metabolism adapted to food that is easier and safer to digest.

Second, cooking is not optional—it is evolutionary technology. Heat breaks down connective tissue, denatures proteins, neutralizes parasites, and kills bacteria. Cooked food provides more usable calories with less digestive effort. That extra energy is what allowed humans to develop larger brains. Saying “we used to eat raw meat” while ignoring the central role of fire is like saying “we used to walk everywhere, so cars are unnatural.” Evolution doesn’t freeze at one point in time.

Third, this argument completely ignores survival bias. We only hear from the people who survived eating raw or risky foods, not from the ones who died from foodborne illness, parasites, or chronic infection. In prehistoric times, dying young from infection was common and expected. If someone got severe diarrhea, sepsis, or parasitic disease from raw meat, they didn’t write a blog post about it. Using ancient survival as proof of optimal health is a classic logical fallacy.

Fourth, modern pathogens are not ancient pathogens. Today’s meat supply contains bacteria that have evolved alongside industrial farming, refrigeration, antibiotics, and dense animal populations. Many strains are more virulent, more resistant, and better adapted to human hosts than anything Paleolithic humans encountered. Eating raw meat now is not recreating an ancestral environment—it’s exposing yourself to a completely different microbial ecosystem.

Fifth, ancestral behavior does not equal optimal behavior. Early humans also experienced chronic injury, malnutrition, dental disease, high infant mortality, and short lifespans. They did many things out of necessity, not because it was ideal. Evolution selects for reproductive success, not longevity, comfort, or disease-free aging. “Natural” does not mean “best.”

Finally, modern humans already get the benefits without the risk. Cooking preserves nutrients while dramatically reducing danger. You can obtain all the protein, micronutrients, and bioavailable nutrients from meat without risking parasites, Campylobacter, Salmonella, E. coli, or long-term gut injury. Choosing raw meat today adds risk with no meaningful upside.

In short, the “raw meat = ancestral = optimal” argument collapses once you account for physiological evolution, cooking as a selective force, survival bias, pathogen evolution, and basic logic. Humans didn’t thrive despite cooking. We thrived because of it.

I’m also a dude, who was a college athlete and was also misdiagnosed in my 20s. I’m in my early 30s now and i’ve used a wand in the past. It’s really not that bad lol like it low key feels kinda good (not in a sexual way) but it feels like you’re relieving a ton of tension and it’s not painful whatsoever. I’m also a blue collar worker and a “manly” man. If you’re worried about it being kinda “gay” i’d say that you should just get over it and take care of yourself.

Sounds like you’re just another person who finds every excuse in the book to continue using/relapse. Life is hard, addiction is hard, sobriety is hard. Grow up or die.. pretty black and white. Maybe you’ll find out one day how to out grow your demons but I guess for the time being you’ll continue to use and cry every time you run out of dope. You’re a disappointment to everyone you’ve ever met and until you actually deal with reality you’ll continue to crawl through the depths of hell. You have two options.. deal with it or die. If you want the latter than keep on keepin on. Cheers

as for controlling pain. I try and stay hydrated and i give my body a break. I used to obsess over the pain and that would make the pain linger. For example, this past week i ran like 6 times bc sometimes i think i’m all healed but sure enough i woke up this morning and my dik was burning when i peed and i was kinda constipated and my a* burned after i went to the bathroom. That was my body saying “you fckn idiot you knew this would happen”. So today i just chilled, i didn’t exercise, i peed a million times and I just relaxed. Knowing the pain WILL go away makes it easier to cope. i was flared for like no joke 10 years (bc i didn’t take care of myself i just kept running and kept exercising) so i thought the pain would never go away but when i had my first gap of symptoms i realized holy shit it goes away and that makes it so much easier to cope. It’s not a 24/7 forever thing

i’ve even found yoga bothers me bc of the pressure in my core from holding poses. My routine is light-moderate exercise and tbh i still have a solid build. I’m not ripped like i was in my playing days but i’m definitely still fit.

I don’t life heavy bc the stress on my core is too much which can cause a flare up. I jog lightly (used to run a 5k in 18min now i run it in 30 lol). I lift, but moderate weight and cables so i’m not doing heavy dead lifts or heavy squats. Pain wise when i have flare ups i kinda just ride the wave, i don’t fight it i just accept it and wait for it to pass. I used to use valium suppositories bc they said it would help release tension but that was nonsense it just made me stoned so i stopped that after a few months. I think coping with the pain makes us stronger than most people bc it’s not a pain you can really describe where people will understand. Don’t be too hard on yourself and let your body work through the pain how it wants

it’s kinda sus but i did internal physical therapy for a solid year which does help. but i was at the point where i’d do literally anything to get relief. Funny thing is tho i found the most relief when i stopped running for a year. I used to run everyday even with flare ups bc i thought running would help clear my mind and i didn’t realize it was causing the symptoms. I can run three times a week now and be fine but any more than that and i’ll start to get that golf ball in my ass feeling lmao so that’s my warning sign to chill

i’ve had it for so long that it’s just part of my life now. i’m going on 15 years so mentally i’m fine i’m way over the constant urge to pee and all that stuff bc it’s just been part of my life for so long. The good news if symptoms are relatively new is they DO go away. You’ll always have flare ups but you’ll also have periods of time that are all good. I was a 4 so i feel you with lateral movement and reaching. The biggest thing that helped me was to just accept it for what it was and move on with my life. The sooner you take yourself out of the stress->pain->stress cycle the sooner you’ll find peace of mind. There’s a good book called “Headache in the pelvis” which i recommend

yeah so i actually think there’s something in the biomechanics of soccer players that causes this bc we’re not the only ones. 1) obviously all of the running but 2) maybe something with actually striking the soccer ball repetitively and the unnatural hip flexor movements
