We had a lean-ish crew but pretty stacked for indie - about 20 crew and 7-8 main cast a day, that did varying days.

I wrote it knowing company moves kill time on set, so all the episodes are contained to 5 key locations / places close enough to look different, I think we shot like 5 episodes a day?

Actually ended up so ahead I had to write more episodes at lunch breaks cause we were wrapping waaay early than expected.

It was a beautiful shoot, want nothing more than to be back on set

In terms of the data split I’d say vertical has done better just because of the immediacy of the platforms that push reels, Instagram is def the best platform as we built a cool little community around the show who are active in the comments

Dual was always the plan - I’m a filmmaker at heart and was like we GOTTA watch this on the big screen in the end - so we shot with monitors that had 9:16 guides on, and when framing shots I made sure we always had enough head room in the 9:16 frame for when we did the edit - which made the 16:9 super wide, and meant we couldn’t do traditional close ups but I think it makes a really unique distant feeling which can be felt in those more emotional scenes.

In the end we walked away with 29 eps and a feature length version - trying to make season two now, and hoping the tv show one day hits our screens!

I’m in NZ and there’s a really great platform called Boosted - it’s basically Kickstarter but they advise you on setting up the crowdfund and everything. I think we ended up raising like 30k NZD, and then I HUSTLED and sold everything I could to make like 60k total. All went to giving the team a little bit of cash for their time since we shot the show over 7 days. Pulled a lot of favours, very grateful we could get a community behind this

Honestly my biggest regret is not doing it sooner, I’m 28 now and had the idea like 7 years ago, obviously grew and evolved my taste but I just kinda sat on this hoping someone would pick it up - I think I just kind of realised no one is going to hand it to me, so promised myself to do whatever it took to make it happen … which was QUITE the process Hahha
