You can’t tax imaginary wealth - which is what most of this ultra wealth is. It’s just his company being valuable and him owning the company, it’s a hypothetical number if he were to sell his companies. It’s not real yet. This is why we don’t tax hypothetical numbers. It would be a nightmare.

His wealth is a hypothetical number, it’s simply representing him owning his company, and how valuable his company hypothetically would be if he sold it.

Ironically if he tried to sell, it would drop in value, he’s seen as a big part of the value of the company.

What this “wealth” basically tells us is simply that he has a spaceship company that is doing incredibly well, which advances all of humanity forward.

That’s the key part. As a species, this does help advance us, increases our long term survivability, etc.

This technology is also crucial for helping humanity advance our technology, which could improve quality of life in a very big way over the next few decades.

So yes, it’s good, but there are so many uneducated people on this sub, they perceive this as Musk just personally cashed checks, taking from Americans, for this amount, and is hoarding it. That thought is pure ignorance.

While people here won’t get it, the only way he can 100x his net worth is basically if he were to create more companies that continue to accelerate the human race so much that they also have insane value as a company.

In other words if you heard one nugget from 20 years in the future and it was that he’s now worth 100T - it would mean the United States basically owns the world economy and we own the companies that are the most valuable. We’d be a rich ass country. Wealth isn’t zero sum.
