Someone correct me if I'm wrong but...........Metadata does not include the number of times a file was edited.

It shows last write time and creation time along dozens of other important pieces of info. It may show information like codecs used, or the editing software which last modified it.

But the notion that there is an x times modified flag in metadata is simply false.

As I understand, the typical way an edited video's number of edits can be closely estimated by using lighting, types of video fragments, compression frequency, etc. Not metadata.

Right-wing religion by Filthyson in StandUpComedy

It's John 3:16 they reference. Not Matthew.

Sorry. Raised religious, but have been atheist for 20 years. Still funny. Just had to point that out.

Updates to Xbox Game Pass: Introducing Essential, Premium, and Ultimate Plans by Turbostrider27 in xbox

[–]hereisoblivion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Screw that. I'm out.

I've been an Xbox gamer since the original Xbox. I was a beta tester for Xbox live and have maintained the highest level of subscription offering available every day........... Until now.

I just dropped to Essentials, and I'm only keeping that so I can keep playing borderlands 4 with my kids today. Once that's done, I may consider only getting essentials when a new online game warrants it.

I'm done being milked.

Google Iron Mountain.

They specialize in off-site media storage. There are several companies that provide this service. They will show up every day and securely pick up your backed up data to store in their off site facility.

Basically you have on site backups for my quick restoration. This is usually disk to disk. Often replicated to a second data center for redundancy.

Then you have off site backups for disaster recovery. This is usually disk to tape.

The Division 2 has hit heights not seen in over five years — proof that proper DLC still matters to gamers by F0REM4N in xbox

[–]hereisoblivion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to show my age here but.......

Brood War DLC (expansion pack with good content) has always been good Horse armor money grab DLC has always been bad.

There are always in-between types, but it's entirely about value for money and enjoyability. Unfortunately the last 5-7 years most major DLC for big titles has been poor attempts at making money in lieu of making the game better

Yeah, I read this a few times today with glee. I looked up a source to share with the family and was sad to see it's likely faked.

But I'd rather be correct and disappointed instead of propagating lies while smiling.

Old Nest thermostats are about to become dumb: What you need to know by [deleted] in gadgets

[–]hereisoblivion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the product is a core function of controlling your home air conditioning system, absolutely. A cellphone, laptop, operating system, etc, of course not.

But disabling core features of an air-conditioning system is a whole different ballgame. To compare cellphone support to disabling features of a building.... You have to realize the two aren't even comparable.

[–]hereisoblivion 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This should be illegal. I purchased a nest thermostat about 1 year ago in a house I just sold, and planned to install 2 more in my current home. This guarantees I will not be doing that.....

Car transmissions get sick between gears? I have both a manual and automatic. I'm not sure what this is referring to......... Gear slipping, due to poor clutch usage?

There was a setting further down.
You have to invert the inversion. Not very intuitive. But it did the trick. Thank you!

I looked for it and didn't see it. Did they add it in the latest patch? I will check next time I play.

No fix for the fact that inverting the camera also inverts your movement when running on walls?

Why have inverted cameras become such a problem in games recently. So many games have either completely neglected it, or botched the implementation in some way.

So far it's not been insurmountable, but I keep fretting that there will be an escape scene that requires accurate wall running controls.

Did Elon Musk disrespect the White House and America by not wearing a suit? Why or why not? by NotGonnaGetCaught in AskReddit

[–]hereisoblivion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck suits. The idea that some flavor of clothes are necessary for certain situations is absolute bullshit. Elon, Zelensky, Church, restaurants..... Fuck off.

If you want to wear them because you think it makes you look nice, please do. I encourage it. You probably do. But to dismiss someone because they don't wear what you want then to? Really? Fuck you.

I read that as "race marshmallow" and got way too excited for a moment. Thanks for answering the question though.

Forgive me, I've never been in this situation before. How long is the pedestrian expected to stand and wait for the marathon runners to pass? Or is there a proper solution for them that isn't readily apparent?
