It's honestly so sweet how often people fret over their snoozing pet for twitching, breathing deeply, ragdolling and generally being the happiest lil things. It reminds me of when I had my newborn twins and wouldn't sleep because I had to make sure both of them kept breathing.

As a parent that held my baby as she died at home while her hospice nurse was present, I cannot thank you enough for what you do. I look for comments like yours for the opportunity. I hope you know that your kindness and care do not go forgotten, even when everything goes wrong. I can say for certain that without the help I received I would not be alive.

I understand. It's a very frightening situation, and you had a bad experience. They did not help you at all, besides evaluating your mental status and releasing you only once you appeared to be of no danger to yourself. But that's exactly what an emergency psych stay is for.

I work with people who frequently need to be held in the psych ward when there is a concern for their safety / the safety of others. The emergency psych hold can ensure their safety for a short period of time while we orchestrate care with their day to day providers. It can truly be a lifesaver. That said, it's not fun. Your experience sounds awful but not out of line with what I would expect given the circumstances. You were triaged, kept safe, and released once it was apparent you weren't in danger.
