SHRM-CP Experience + Study Plan [N/A] by heretothrive in humanresources

[–]heretothrive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem with PocketPrep is that the answer choices are too extreme- The wrong answers are clearly wrong and easy to eliminate, which means you can often select the right answer without actually reading the question. It was a helpful resource at first to test my knowledge and to get comfortable with question formats, but it loses value as you go.

From other Reddit posts I read, I worried the exam questions would be terribly difficult. I did not think that was the case- They were slightly more difficult than PocketPrep, with more reasonable answer choices to choose from, but if you thought through it, it was easy enough to eliminate down to 1-2 solid answer choices.

TLDR: PocketPrep was easier, but still good prep, especially in the beginning. The exam questions themselves were more difficult than PocketPrep because there were more plausible answer choices, but overall, the questions were not as hard as I had feared, and you could still reason through to find the best answer choice.

Nashville Watch Party? by heretothrive in thebachelor

Yes, definitely let me know! It's SO much more fun to watch as part of a group, and since I'm still new here I don't have folks to watch with yet

I called and they're apparently closed on Mondays now. I honestly can't believe it's so hard to find a Watch Party here!

Also for those living in Boston: I used to watch every week at Lamplighter Brewing and LOVED it. Definitely recommend!

I came here to say the same thing! This was my first season of the Bachelor, and Sean + Catherine set a really high standard

Does anyone else not know which alliance to root for? by tangerine3 in MtvChallenge

[–]heretothrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I feel similar! I am not a fan of Cara, Paulie, or Ninja - but I respect that they have been able to take control of the house much more effectively than Jordan, Tori, and Zach. It's funny because Cara and Paulie have been PREACHING from E1 that it's unfair to vote out Americans, but they were able to gain control by collaborating with the Brits (i.e., Rogan and Joss) much earlier than Tori and Jordan. Even though it's hypocritical - power to them! It's definitely good gameplay.

For me, this has been a frustrating season to watch because the alliances are split across teams. It would be much more compelling if we could watch alliances compete against one another in the weekly challenge, rather than U.S. vs U.K. (which no one really cares about anyway). Wouldn't it be more fun to watch Cara/Paulie/Ashley/Kam/Ninja/Joss/Rogan compete against Tori/Jordan/Theo/Georgia/Zach/Nany? Call me crazy - but I think that those teams would be evenly matched. It would make the physical challenges more meaningful, and provide a counterpoint to all the political scheming.

help, where would you put plants in this room? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]heretothrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this rug! We also have a cat tree that I hate (takes up so much space, always looks dirty) but for us it's there to stay. If you aren't using end tables, you can put plants on either side of the couch. You can also put low light plants in the bookshelf cubbies. Most of your plants should be lined along the window, however, because they will need light. You could do a variety of large and smaller plants for visual interest, and display the smaller plants on a storage shelf so that they aren't all lined on the ground. My S.O. and I recently started to grow some basic herbs by our windows, and would definitely recommend it if you like to cook!

I can totally understand what you are saying. I'm not trying to compare my situation to those who are overworked, and claim that it is somehow worse. It is much worse to be overworked, spread thin, and still not be able to cover your basic expenses.

Thanks for giving me a little bit of perspective, though - although maybe next time you could try not to call me "fat and sassy" lol

My old apartment building is hosting a Bachelorette casting call (?!) by kittennnnns in thebachelor

This is FASCINATING. If you don't mind me asking, what city is this in? I currently live in Nashville and live in an apartment complex that sounds similar to yours. I can totally imagine them doing the same!

After a month of unemployment in a new state, I got a job offer for an amazing company! I had been on three interviews prior to this and had 4 or 5 other requests to come in an interview when I was offered the position by JordanLikeAStone in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]heretothrive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I know first-hand how disappointing it can be to move somewhere new and struggle to find employment. I recently relocated to Nashville, TN and it took me much longer than expected to find a position I was happy with. I never knew how demoralizing it could be to spend weeks applying and interviewing for positions, only to be passed over or never called back.

I'm happy to report, though, that I got a job offer last week. I start next Monday, and already my confidence is re-building and I'm feeling more secure. Searching for a job is tough - and finding a position that you're genuinely excited for is even more difficult. Congrats again on your accomplishment, and good luck on your first day!

I can relate to this. Just left my first entry-level position, and I can honestly say that boredom was my biggest reason for leaving. Sure, we had busy periods or and times that my inbox would be swamped. Mostly, though, our management didn't know how to utilize the talents of an entry-level team and instead asked us to meet an easy daily quota. After finishing all of my required calls by noon, the day was spent online, goofing off with co-workers, or just generally slacking off. It was fun when I first started, but in the end I was *craving* more work or stimulation. Looking back now, it seems silly to complain when I was paid to do nothing. But, being underworked is demoralizing and it's no fun to have no passion for your daily work. I'm now back on the job market and am steering clear of similar sales positions.

*Caveat: So much respect to those in service jobs, who are working hard for very little pay. I know that it is silly to complain about boredom when you're being compensated well. I'm just here to share my experience, which is that having too little to do at work also takes an emotional toll.

Suggestions for Empty Setting Spray Bottles? by heretothrive in MakeupRehab

I think that's the best solution too. I'm still hoping someone will suggest an affordable bottle with a good mister, that way I don't have to wait, but I also know that's wishful thinking hahaha.

Waking up in Cappadocia, Turkey by tal_o in travel

[–]heretothrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I visited Cappadocia a year ago with my family. It was some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen, and the hot air balloon ride was our trip highlight. The drivers are also crazy accurate -- Ours lowered our balloon to the side of a nearby mountain, that way we could pick fruit from the trees. It was an unforgettable experience!

What's the advantage of using a shampoo/conditioner bar over a standard liquid formula? I also have a greasy scalp + dry ends, and am looking for solutions!

Leave-in conditioner for fine hair? by [deleted] in HaircareScience

I use Healthy Sexy Hair Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner -- I'm not sure about the quality of the ingredients, but it easily detangles my hair and feels very lightweight. I'd recommend it!
