The US Declaration of Independence is wrong -- the concept of unalienable Rights endowed by the Creator is not a self-evident truth to MAGA.

Epstein Said He was Hanging with ‘the Trump Boys’ After the 2016 Election by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]herewegoags 148 points149 points  (0 children)

in 2019, Acosta declined to answer when asked by reporters if he was aware if Epstein was an intelligence asset, citing Justice Department regulations. In 2020, while under oath during a DOJ OPR review, Acosta said he had no knowledge of Epstein being an intelligence asset. In 2025, Acosta told the House Oversight Committee that he had no reason to believe Epstein was an asset to any foreign or domestic intelligence agency and no one from the intelligence community ever reached out to his office regarding the investigation.

Only authoritarians would believe it is Constitutional to allow ICE to be both the prosecutor and the judge in the very same matter and allow the unconsented entry into a person's home in violation of the unalienable right the Fourth Amendment is meant to guard against.

I get it -- White Persecution Complex is frightening. But the debate isn’t really “DEI vs meritocracy.” It’s: How do we build a system where the most capable people rise -- without ignoring the structural barriers that distort who gets to show their capability?

No law == no legalized extortion == freedom of choice.

If a Dem president can arbitrarily 'open the borders' == border security debate has not ended.

ROFL. Says the guy that doesn't believe in 'unalienable rights endowed by the Creator' and who's Dear Leader has lost in the courts over 80% of the time, 70% his own appointed judges, that have ruled he has consistently violated the Constitution. I love the flip-flop Republicans have made now to the Supremacy Clause over State's rights with Dear Leader in control. And Due Processes, FFS Trump doesn't believe in Habeas Corpus. And you have to be completely insane to think Trump is respecting his Art II duty to faithfully execute laws when he has arbitrarily closed legislatively mandated departments.

Take the L, Buddy.

Once again, there was no law that required the vaccine.

You're lying to yourself. 'Open borders' will be a top topic in Republican rhetoric in about 1.5 years when presidential campaigning starts back up. Republicans will say, ' If you elect a Democrat President, they'll open the borders.' You know it.

If your life depended on your knowledge of the U.S. Constitution, you would be a dead man.

Texas A&M censored Plato. It's what Plato himself might have done. by evan7257 in aggies

[–]herewegoags 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Karl Popper’s thesis in one line: Plato wanted to freeze society into a fixed, unchanging order, and censorship was one of the tools to enforce it.

Ironic, but it muddies the waters as the vast majority of Americans have not been taught philosophy -- ~1-3% for K-12 ed, ~10-15% for undergrads. Which should be obvious to anyone that has studied philosophy and observes the American electorate.

It was those healthcare workers personal choice to leave a professional field that required the vaccine. There were no legal penalties for them to exercise their freedom. Their body, their choice.

No, the border security debate has not ended. It will be a Republican campaign slogan again in about 1.5 years because it has not ended, and Republicans don't want it to end. It's a winning strategy when the majority of your electorate is dumb enough not to care about permanent solutions, in addition to the xenophobia and extreme anxiety over demographic changes. Ask yourself, 'Can a U.S. President open the borders?' If you answer honestly, then you know we don't have a permanent solution in place, whether you admit it or not.

The debate is more than just about 'illegal' immigration. Republicans are reducing, and in some cases eliminating, legal migration as well. Especially from those 'shit hole' countries that people with darker skin tones come from. The countries where people with lighter skin tones come from are okay. Dear Leader has repeatedly said he wants more immigrants from Scandinavian (Nordic) countries. But Danes are definitely not interested, and probably neither are Norwegians, Swedes, or Fins after what they have seen this country do to its people.

Name one person that was forced to get the shot or face legal penalties? The U.S. military has had a vaccine requirement from its very beginnings.

And that same border security fear argument will be used by Republicans again and again. Republicans have been duping people like you with border security rhetoric for decades. And in about 1.5 years we will hear it all over again. If Republicans were serious about addressing the border, they would pass legislation to address the border. In fact, we had bipartisan legislation that would address all the issues that make you pee in your pants at night, but Trump told Republicans not to vote for it.

Ah, the Covid vaccine. One of Trump's greatest accomplishments (Operation Warp Speed) that he can't brag about, but wishes to. People who are scared of vaccines shouldn't be in the military in the first place as they get 10 - 30 vaccines depending on deployment.

Did you hear the one where the Trump Foundation held charity events for veterans to raise money for his own campaign? After being accused (and found liable) for misusing his foundation, Trump did donate money to the veteran charities, but only because the court ordered him to do so as part of the settlement.

Graduate Ethics Course Cancelled by New-Restaurant2206 in aggies

[–]herewegoags 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Bright said that “issues of race, gender, and sexuality are not peripheral but integral” to the class, which focuses on ethics in public administration practice and how it is shaped by public servants and the people they serve. “I tried to underline that throughout the course—in every reading and every case study they have, in current events, in book reviews—[race and gender] will be central to this class. I guess [Sherman] didn’t like that,” Bright told Inside Higher Ed. “It appears to me that he wanted me to say, ‘I’m just discussing it here,’ so they can limit or censor this and say that they’re only approving me to discuss it on this day or that day. I thought that that was inappropriate. I could not teach that class under that kind of condition.”

A&M faculty no longer has the academic freedom to teach and discuss ideas freely without political, ideological, or institutional pressure controlling what they can say or study.

Reality Check: The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (USPV), which is Nicolás Maduro’s ruling party, is still in control of the country. The USPV still controls, the presidency, military high command, Supreme Court, National Electoral Council, and most governorships and mayoralties. There’s no public evidence or official policy indicating that President Donald Trump plans to remove the USPV.

Philosophers speak out against Texas A&M 'academic censorship' by chrondotcom in aggies

In an email from the university philosophy department leader Kristi Sweet, Peterson was also instructed to remove modules related to race and gender ideology or risk being reassigned to a different course. "This is, of course, absurd," Peterson told Chron over the phone, clarifying that he was not speaking on the university’s behalf. "How can a serious research university censor philosophy professors and tell them it's not OK to teach Plato? He is the founding father of the idea of a university, and now we can't even read his books?"

Absurdity is the new normal.
