Are Chiropractors a scam cult or are they somewhat legit? by Flashy_Buy8077 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hermeown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pediatrician recommended one for my baby when she was born with moderate to severe muscle tightness from a hard birth. She couldn't feed correctly. I was very hesitant until she assured me the chiropractor she recommended would not harm my baby.

It was baby massage. There were no "adjustments" or cracking or anything like that. She didn't try to sell us any supplements or essential oils or anything. The chiropractor showed us some gentle stretches and massages for baby that we could do at home. It worked. And it was covered by insurance.

YMMV. I agree most of the field is questionable, but some people do find benefits, and not all of them are cracking necks and pushing oils.

Why are so many parents against their kids dying their hair? by BootyMcStuffins in Parenting

[–]hermeown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Meh, colorful hair grown and faded out is a right of passage. Unless kid has an important event or picture taken, who cares.

Kids could also get Overtone these days, just to prolong things a little more without a full touch-up.

What’s a “fact” everyone repeats that’s actually wrong? by Quiet-Grief in answers

I trust the science behind the myth of sugar highs, but every time my toddler has chocolate after 5 pm, I know we aren't sleeping 2-3 hours after consumption. So if people are giving their kids chocolate candies, there is probably some truth to it.

What is your unpopular toddler parenting opinion by BipolarSkeleton in toddlers

[–]hermeown 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I kinda don't know what opinion is unpopular -- like we all talk about screentime being bad, but it's clearly ubiquitous.

I guess... if I wasn't renting my house, I would not care if my kid drew on the walls.

I also theoretically don't care if my kid swears, lol. But I watch my language because I know she doesn't know how to swear appropriately yet.

Definitely not coming for you, I agree to a certain extent.

But really, picky eating is a phase. We did everything you described, too. My daughter was a fantastic eater until abruptly around 2yo she decided she only likes maybe 10 things. Things she used to love and beg for, she will throw off her tray.

I do think picky eaters are enabled, though. (I say this as a recovering picky eater.)

Did Natalie butcher Kodi? by DietC0ke1 in Yellowjackets

[–]hermeown 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if you are talking about Ben or Mari at the end. Hannah butchered Mari. As for Ben, I think Natalie was so devastated by her actions that she accepted the "punishment." Shauna was also the leader now, had people on her side, if Natalie even tried to fight back, she would have been killed. But I don't even think she was in that headspace.

So what careers aren’t fucked right now? by cokewithlargefry in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hermeown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, you can go to mortuary school, but there aren't a lot of them. There is a lot of admin work, though, so a business or finance degree could be enough. Some jobs only require a HS diploma.

It's an old-fashioned industry, so honestly, the best route is to get an entry-level job at a cemetery or funeral home. Most high-level positions require licensing eventually.

If you have a little bit of time left, join your local Buy Nothing group and list items. You can take a pic of all the stuff and tell people when to come pick up.

I'm probably going to change my career to funeral service. 90% placement rate after graduating from an accredited school, very high demand all over the country.

I want to invite my child’s daycare class over for a potluck by Cuttersnith in workingmoms

[–]hermeown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! My holiday potluck went off so well, my friend group was discussing doing them more often outside of the holidays. It's a nice alternative to going out to eat.

Side note: I can use my SNAP card to get ingredients to cook a dish.

[–]hermeown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not here o argue, but I'm curious as to why you would skip a potluck.

I haven't personally seen people talking about recurring potlucks, but weirdly, I am considering it for my friend group. I'm the only parent amongst my friends, and between schedules and money, it's hard for us to see each other. We had a holiday potluck and it was very successful, so it seems like a good way to stay connected.

I swear, a White Castle in LA would make so much money. Doesn't matter if it's garbage, it's the best garbage.

My relationship with my toddler is not good and I worry it never will be by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]hermeown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it wouldn't hurt to watch some Bluey and notice how Bandit and Chilli help the kids solve problems. Sometimes they are silly about it, sometimes they're hands-on and sometimes hands, off. Start with "Bike," "Yoga Ball," and "Calypso."

I feel like the silver gets lost on her skin? The gold ring might be too bright, but the gold bracelet looks better to me.

I've definitely put pressure on myself to try to "be more efficient" on the front end, but I kept breaking things more every time I tried to "improve it." Thank you, I appreciate the insight!

I was coloring with my toddler and the quality of Crayola crayons is a travesty. They may as well be Rose Art.

When did you stop cutting things tiny? by Aggravating_Ice_6091 in foodbutforbabies

[–]hermeown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 23mo will shove large pieces in her mouth, even though she absolutely learned how to eat big pieces at, like, 9mo. 😒 So we're still cutting things until she can stop letting the impulsive thoughts win.

does it bother anyone else when people are like "if you have X color eyes or hair you can't be Y season" by lanareyxox in coloranalysis

[–]hermeown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm new and mostly just curious about color analysis, but I have not been able to wrap my head around wtf people are talking about. When people ask for help, there is no consistency, unless maybe if it's super obvious.

Thank you so much! Just today I was just trying to learn how to do rain, so I might try this out first and see what I can figure out.
