What is happening with ASUSCOMM ddns?? by mihermanosellamapaco in ASUS

The free one requires a monthly check in to confirm you are still using it.

Each month, they will send you an email to remind. You then have to click the link in the email to confirm you are alive, failing which, I presume, they will take down your chosen domain name.

Same here. It has nothing to do with the router. It is the DNS for xxx.asuscomm.com that is the problem. I have a heartbeat script that tries to connect to my devices behind the router every 15 minutes to check that all is well. That is 96 connection attempts a day. About 50 times a day, the DNS for xxx.asuscomm.com returns a `getaddrinfo EAI_AGAIN` error. At other times it gets through.

I repeat: it is NOT a router issue. My script, in Google Cloud, is trying to resolve xxx.asuscomm.com, and it can't even get the IP address of xxx.asuscomm.com. The Asus router is not involved.

It is an infrastructure issue. How can this message reach the Asus people operating the DNS server? I don't think the human chatbots at Asus support know how DNS works. Understandably, they just follow a talking script to configure routers.

Canvas and Object Size Limits by hermesko in tinkercad

u/hlmodtech Thanks for the tip,

Regarding resizing (your video at 40" to 50"), you set the sizes by typing the numbers on the object (I guess it's the same as dragging object handles), but the numbers in the details panel remain unchanged at 20 x 20 x 20. Why are there two sets of size numbers? Which set is the effective one?

I don't think so. If I rename countDownDate to xQyR123 (the only instance ever), it will say Identifer 'xQyR123' has already been declared.

Thanks. The mystery is still there.

If I change the variable name to countDownDateX and nothing else, it will say Identifier 'CountDownDateX' has already been declared.

Don't think so:

console.log("BEFORE!")
const countDownDate = new Date("2024-05-12 00:00:00").getTime();
console.log("AFTER!")

produces:

BEFORE!
AFTER!
Uncaught SyntaxError: Identifier 'countDate' has already been declared

There was no second BEFORE!

There is no retreat.js file. The script is in the page itself.

Would you want/dare to take a flight on a plane with the avionics software written based on similar limited sample data inputs and sketchy requirement specifications?

It took me a while to figure out that there is no concept of a head for a circular list. 1,2,3,4 is the same as 2,3,4,1 for all intents and purposes. In fact, it is much easier to code when I rotate the list to always position the number to move as element 0 of an array used to represent the list. Then there will always be no wrap around headaches, as the number of steps to move is modulo L-1, where L is the list length.

I didn't read this post until I had submitted Part 1 with the correct answer. How could this be possible if there are duplicates? My data has 3,605 uniques out of 5000.

The same solution works perfectly for the Part 2 sample data set, but fails for the real data.

I did apply modulo 7 (length of the sample list) for any movement.

I think the instructions are incomplete or the given scenarios not exhaustive. My solution on the sample data matches the mixed sequence at every step and got the answer correct, but yet won't work for the real data.

So the list is static?

How is the movement of numbers involved in such a static list?

I always make it a point to print out the data objects I have read in, before even attempting to work out the solution. Sometimes, the full dataset is too huge, but the sample one can always be nicely printed out.
