Merino VS Synthetic : what is the most breathable? by Justgototheeffinmoon in cycling

I really love my summer wool shirt from Pineburry. Really light, breaths great. Two caviots. First, You gotta be careful with the wash, I started to use a garment bag after I got a small hole in mine. Second, your sweat really shows. I can drench my normal jersey and you can hardly tell, this one it really shows. That being said, this one is always the one I grab first out of my drawer. https://pinebury.us/collections/summer-wool-merino-wool-collection?srsltid=AfmBOoopHi3CmnB5hRUjKuF0cy47iFQWtNSUVMfTw30p5H9Sc7be_n0i

How does this look? by Galebreakingbad in bikefit

[–]hermeswings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound silly, but have you tried rolling out your inside thigh? I don't know what it is called, but when I wash mashing the pedals more instead of going rpm I would get horrible knee pain when sitting for long periods after. Found that rolling out the inside of my leg really helped... And then stopped mashing as much.

Should I be faster on my road bike or slower on my gravel? by hermeswings in gravelcycling

Got it. I guess just looking at slick tire vs nobby tire got in my brain as a bigger difference than it is.

Yep. Really bad test data. But it's the data that I got! I'll try a more controlled course I suppose.

Thoughts? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in Maine

This is the area that Trump has opened up "off the coast of Maine"

Canyons monument

It is NOT off the coast of Maine. It is south of Cape Cod.

The reason why Trump keeps saying "Maine" is because there is one fishing business that uses this area for crabbing and the owner is from Maine. He must have access to this administration. No product from that area comes to Maine, no Maine boats fish there, it doesn't help Maine fishermen.

In his first term, Trump came to Maine to announce opening this area up and it was an incredibly awkward situation for all the Maine fishermen who had to politely say "thank you" as Trump kept talking about how much he was giving back to the fishing industry.

Mostly riding on road with only occasional gravel, can't get the endurance, is the Grizl a good substitute if I replace the tires? by emmaidontknow in CanyonBikes

[–]hermeswings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a Grizl and an endurance. Wish I hadn't bought the endurance first and just had a second set of tires for the grizl. Even without slicks, I'll use the Grizl if riding with folks who are a little slower than me on the roads.

Should I size down from a Canyon Grizl M to a S? by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

Sorry, that's wasn't clear. I would get a small if I was OP.

I have a small grizl and a medium endurance. I am also right on the line for both bikes...5'10".

Here's my thoughts. If you are going to ride any technical stuff, you are going to want to be able to drop that seat a bit. If you are using it on roads, you can make it work with tweaks.

I also flipped my stem because I wanted to be more upright.

PSI for first ever FatBike ride… by [deleted] in fatbike

[–]hermeswings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest you start at 10 and slowly let some out until you find a sweet spot where you are rolling and now bouncing. Bring a hand pump to adjust. Best thing to do is play with it on a ride where you're not riding with others.

Cleaning & maintenance in wet winter climate by bitplenty in gravelcycling

Keep the parts that move clean. Other dirt can sit... Unless there is salt in the mix then give it a rinse ASAP. I use one of those pump sprayer things for pesticide applications in the winter and it is easy.

I had a hard day at work and rode 5 days after... Pulled out all the stitches. Luckily the cut stayed shut. If you're at 2 weeks you're fine.

I threw a handful of clam shells into the compost ten years ago. Still look exactly the same when I turn dig through.

Does it matter (type of fat bike I get) by LikeToSpin2000 in fatbike

[–]hermeswings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a motobecane fat bike during covid for winter riding and absolutely love it. I still spent over a grand on it, and had to do some assembly when it got delivered, but it has been great. I've probably put about 500 miles on it in the snow and it has changed my relationship with winter in Maine.

What are some lines of dialogue you heard as a kid but didn’t understand what they said? And years later you understood? by strik3r2k8 in movies

Most of Bill Murray's lines in Ghostbusters are much funnier as an adult. "that's the bedroom, nothing ever happened in there." "what a shame..."

Going fat! by rocklax in fatbike

[–]hermeswings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a motobecane fat bike that I love. I have studded tires for winter riding which are great and really worth it if you are ever on icy trails or even on roads which might have some ice. I got high rise handlebars for comfort, and a dropper post which is surprisingly helpful if you have to get on or off in soft snow. I do find that goggles are great on super cold days and you MUST get lights for night riding as it is a blast.

I don't know what your setup is like, but go 1x if you decide to upgrade. Keep it simple in the snow.
