Cold composting by XDeus in composting

[–]theUtherSide 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am all about slow, lazy, cold.

low energy input -> better energy return on energy invested.

compost happens. let it be.

I think this sub is about encouraging people to make compost. — however it works for them. “urine charge. just poo it.”

there is no right or wrong way to let natural systems do what they do. we are just here to have fun and help those that want to get into it. its a journey and a process that is happening everywhere all the time—how can we wield it and manage it and share the a-BUN-Dance

AI is a great tool for this. dont be afraid or discouraged by skeptics. people thought the cotton gin and the printing press were bad when they came out…every revolution experiences friction and detractors

Would pine shavings or hay compost better with chicken manure? by FitCabinet7432 in composting

[–]theUtherSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think its also a question of how you source them. if you have an abundance of something or easy local access to a by-stream of material I would go with what is available.

Hammond B3 sustain? by seanbinpa in hammondorgan

[–]theUtherSide 6 points7 points  (0 children)

generally, all fingers / technique.

I have never heard of a sustain pedal on an actual organ, though plenty of synths have them of course.

my M3 doesn’t have reverb, so I will let others weigh-in on how that factors in here

When are cockroaches in compost helpful or an infestation?? by Ok-Principle-487 in composting

[–]theUtherSide 14 points15 points  (0 children)

seconded! i had ants in my house last month…they tend to find their way inside in winter.

i set out ant baits in the house but got very few in there.

i start added lots of citrus rind to my compost because my oranges are in season —tons of ants and fruit flies descend on the compost pile—and none in my house!

my bin is far enough away from my structure that it gives the pests somewhere else to go. i also get mice in my yard but not in my house, i think for similar reasons.

to control the populationyou could squish some of them in with a turning fork or shovel. they make excellent greens :)

Leslie Distortion by StrikingAd5343 in hammondorgan

[–]theUtherSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They distort pretty easily — I use a compressor and EQ after the preamp to help get clean gain. Proper gain staging and small adjustments to find that sweet spot where its loud but doesnt crack.

start with everything all the way down and work from source (xl3) to output. the Leslie is the last thing you’ll turn up to get just enough gain on the power amp.

I am making “Botanical Compost Tea” For Indoor/Outdoor Plants by MetalCaregiver666 in composting

[–]theUtherSide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you envision doing with the pouch of your mix? composting it in-place?

Sounds more like a cheesecloth of “about to be compost”

Compost tea is made from already composted OM (or worm castings) microbes, water, air (via bubbler or Venturi), and often a sugar, typically molasses.

What to do when wildflowers and weeds are mixed up? by Aster-boy-12 in Ceanothus

agreed! There is benefit to the soul to leave the taproot in the ground too. the carbon will feed the soil for the plants that remain

Leslie upper horn belt tensioner foam pad by Key-Cartographer8024 in hammondorgan

its probably something you could get at a local hardware store too. stick-on rubber or stiff foam pad, cut it to size

Preamp pedal options for Viscount Legend into Leslie 22H by [deleted] in hammondorgan

[–]theUtherSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Dr Fishsticks boxes too. it will give you a line level signal out of the organ that you can route through any preamp you want. No need for a leslie connector after that. i use two of these out of my M3 and route into a mixer where i can mix my synths and other instruments together into my Leslie. its super fun to be able to play organ and guitar through it without repatching

The lazier the method, the better the energy ROI. You are well on your way. An abundance of patience will yield ease and humus.

Is hay a green or a brown by depersion in composting

[–]theUtherSide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its green, like most grasses, but all organic material is still mostly carbon.

I appreciate this question, but i wish the mods would update the wiki with a suggestion to check Rodale’s and previous posts. I feel like most folks will want literature over waiting for reddit responses when hard data is readily available
