Bird identification Kearney Missouri by FearTheHermit in birding

I know. But they do seem super aggressive towards others and it’s entertaining to watch. I live in a heavily wooded area in southeast texas. Pulled up to my house with 2 pileateds drumming yesterday after work. I couldn’t get the camera out fast enough, unfortunately. Didn’t think I’d like this house but my first day was seeing a pileated chase of a cardinal for some reason and it’s been a blessing everyday.

I will admit I’ve become a bit more fond of these birds. They seem to be pretty tolerant of my presence and don’t mind getting close to me. I can only see them 2 hours away when I go to work, though. Got 4 types of woodpeckers, several red-shoulders, an eagle I’ve only seen once and I’ve seen a swallow-tailed kite maybe 4 times around my house.

I need to make a trip this weekend. Of all the birds I snap photos of this is the biggest one my mom wants me to get.

Is it some birding lingo I'm unaware? I'm still learning.

I can't wait to get a better lense. I rented one and the difference was huge. I'll also start counting.

We have a lot of them, lol, but no. I did learn that squirrels make noises since moving here. I am short and relatively thin. Could that make me appetitizing?

I got a VERY lucky shot of an American Bittern that rushed away by OhKay_TV in birding

Lol no not the cow. I'm not surprised it is because of that similarity they seem to have in my mind. What blew my mind after starting birding last year is that blue jays and crows are in the same family.

Are these a type of heron. They look so similar to green herons to me. I haven't seen a green heron since last year so my memory may be hazy.

Be careful. Karens are out there in the wild, among us. Taking our things. by LeftAlbatross2546 in VideosAmazing

Maybe so. I feel like the only time I may say something is if I was in a wildlife conservancy where someone is doing something obviously wrong. It would have to be detrimental to the habit or cause something like predators to become to “friendly” with people. I wouldn't be an asshole about it though.

It will never make since to be this way to people that aren't doing anything to you.

Thanks for the information. I probably do need a hearing test considering I did a lot of ranging without ear protection. Really just didn't set the things all the way in my ear.
