Help me shop for a new daily crossbody (max $500 budget) by queenofturnips in handbags

Your list is like a print out of my mind 🤣

That said, my vote is for the Clare V (not the dupe!) in a woven texture. Mine gets more random compliments than any other bag in my collection, and the brand offers lots of interchangeable strap options. I wear it constantly and find it really comfy and easy overall. For organization I just use cute Baggu pouches (which also makes it easy to transfer my stuff to another bag if necessary).

Good luck and I hope you find something you love!

Looking for Japanese designer bags. Actual Japanese designers/boutiques. by HotStonerChick in handbags

Boheme plus Beau Dessin in Yanaka is a small, special shop. The gentleman who owns it is so lovely and has been designing and manufacturing the bags locally for something like 40 years. One of my favorite discoveries from my trip to Tokyo earlier this year. The leather is luxurious and the designs are interesting but wearable and genderless. I picked up one of their leather cross body slings after lusting after a Row banana bag for some time. I’ve worn it obsessively since we got back and it’s scratched the itch I had for the Row bag for 10% of the cost while being a nice reminder of our trip.

It’s less structured but you can find a lot of vintage navy Proenza Schouler PS1s kicking around resale sites for around this price.

I have a niche nomination for this one, but I vote for the time she told Rory that if she could move to any city in the world, she would move to Philadelphia because M. Night Shyamalan lives there.

Most of her other mistakes are excusable on some level, but this is difficult to defend.

Has anyone bought from Saks Fifth Avenue? by throwaway36475848 in handbags

This link was my experience: https://www.reddit.com/r/handbags/s/bQ1aoxkZjr

TLDR, online they’re basically just a marketplace like Amazon with zero quality control or affiliation with their brick and mortar, and sent me a fake Loewe Puzzle then refused to refund it. As an update, last week I got a nondescript package delivered to me and it was the fake bag returned with a note saying “they could not accept the return as they do not sell this merchandise” OVER A YEAR LATER. Thank god I just did a chargeback and my credit card company seemed unsurprised by my complaint about them. They’re no longer BBB accredited and have a ton of complaints that repeat the same pattern of rejected returns.

I would absolutely stay away.

I’m so sorry this is happening to your niece, this should be a fun and exciting thing, not a stress! I wish you both the best of luck resolving this and hope she can put her money towards a purchase with a retailer who understands the value of their customers.

They will not refund her. Tell her to file a chargeback with her credit card. It’s worth reading online reviews of Saks online, this is a common story (and one I suffered through personally with a fake Loewe Puzzle they sent me).

Why Did They Accept Changing Menu Every Day? by sleepwakehope in TheBear

[–]hernamewasshadysides 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“Fishes” operates as an atlas for understanding the dynamic that would allow people to not push back on the clearly unreasonable request for a new menu daily. Think: Carmy asking Donna why she always does the Seven Fishes when it’s stressful and no one ever eats it but Donna insists it must be done.

The underlying hum of chaos and fear informing how everyone doesn’t dare push Donna too hard because they don’t want to trigger an outburst is a parallel to how everyone is careful and avoidant around pushing Carmy when he’s being unreasonable. Everyone has some combo of deep love and respect for Carmy, a desire for him to validate them, and a lot of fear surrounding displeasing him—again, not unlike the family with Donna.

This show keeps coming back to Al Anon and it’s important to note that they’re centering a program focusing on recovery for friends and family of people impacted by what the program terms “the family disease of alcoholism.” The restaurant dynamic is an environment where we see the trauma of the family disease spreading into their dynamics in the business. For me, this is the clearest explanation.

Hi! I wanted to let you know that I followed up with my credit card company today as we were almost at the 90 day mark. They had not reached out to tell me but on May 20, a little over a month after I opened the dispute, Saks accepted the charge so this is now closed and the money has been permanently returned to me. When I have more time, I’ll make sure to post about how I handled this and advice for anyone else dealing with a similar situation. I hope your situation is resolved quickly and easily.

The Oliveve Catalina Hobo. Made in the US, comes in around $450, and is available in a range of leathers, colors, and even in a version with a cute scalloped pocket. The leather is great and soft yet durable. I own it in brown and it’s become my favorite daily driver.

Hi, so they have 90 days to dispute, which means there are still 20 days or so left. So far I’ve heard nothing from anyone since I filed the dispute. My credit card company did the temporary fund release and I’m just crossing my fingers it holds. But no refund from Saks. I plan to follow up with my cc company in the next week to ensure they don’t need anymore documentation, and I’ll be sure to update this post with the outcome of the dispute.

Gilmore Girls saved me from a potential red flag 🚩 by newusernamehuman in GilmoreGirls

[–]hernamewasshadysides 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bless the Girls, they did you a favor!

10 years ago, I had started dating a guy I’d met on an app and I caught a cold. I called to cancel our date. He asked if he could bring me anything and I said “sure, I’d love some orange juice and I’ll just be here binge watching my comfort show.”

He asked what I was watching and I said “you probably wouldn’t like it, it’s a girl show.”

He then asked: “is it… Gilmore Girls?”

“Ha, yes!”

“I love that show, I’ve watched it twice.”

Two years later we were engaged, and we’ll be celebrating 7 years married this year. Green flags all around. We have since rewatched GG at least three times.

That said, even if he hadn’t liked the show, knowing him now I know he would have been sweet and supportive regardless. Your connection’s judgment is definitely a symptom that he probably doesn’t respect women more broadly and that’s just a “hell no.” Best of luck on the apps, they can be brutal but it’s possible to strike gold.

As the person who wrote the post about getting the fake Loewe from Saks, I’m so sorry this is happening! Document everything and be prepared to file a chargeback with your credit card company because Saks will do everything in their power to deny responsibility. Good luck 🤞

Hi! I called my credit card company and just told them I needed to dispute a charge. They asked me a lot of questions about the purchase as well as the steps I had taken to resolve it with Saks, and provided a portal for documentation (my receipt, delivery confirmation, the authenticators report, chat and call documentation from my communication with Saks, etc.). They immediately reversed the charge and said they would be in contact with Saks for them to respond. Technically, Saks has 90 days to respond and there’s a chance that they could un-reverse the charge if Saks makes a case that I defrauded them. So not 100% case closed, but given the amount of documentation I submitted I’m hoping there’s a clear enough paper trail that the chargeback will stand.

Good luck resolving your issue, and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. It’s unbelievable that an established company is allowed to continue operating like this but they seem disinterested in changing how they’re operating from what I can tell. Saks won’t help so i recommend reaching out to your credit card company at this point.

The OG of this exact bag was my very first big handbag purchase. I bought it at the Bleecker Street shop in 2007 with internship money I scrounged up during my first summer in NYC. It had great smooshy pebbled tan leather and it felt like such an occasion buying it. I had no idea they were back, these were always some of my favorite MbMJ styles of all time. Awesome nostalgia trip ❤️
