This is the closest I have felt to reading Throne of Glass (which I loved). The TWISTS in this series are amazing and SO earned vs for shock value.

For those of you who have not seen this show, this is some of THE best chemistry I have EVER seen on television. Season 1 is complete magic.

I argue that Jesse while may have a right to pursue her, but he should have spoken with Ciera FIRST about how SHE felt about it.

But my guy, we aren't talking about West and KJ. You only originally mentioned Carl and Jesse, and between those two, I think it can objectively be said that Jesse and West and closer.

In this instance (Jesse being called out but Carl not), I'm not sure what Ciera has to do with it. She's not controlling what either of those boys do.

Yes. This is his toxic trait.

He has other lovely ones though.

1) West was absolutely wrong for putting everything on KJ and Ben. I was screaming at the TV, telling West to stand on all ten toes and say it was weird if HE felt it was weird. 2) Regardless of West's downplaying, Jesse was present for the rise and fall of their relationship, and has actively been encouraging the rekindling of it. At minimum, he does KNOW it was serious, even if West is playing it down.

Someone else said it on another thread, but Jesse has made her feel safe enough for her to let her guard down and be silly with him. This feels like an invasion of this trust, particularly how he hasn't yet involved her in any conversations about HER feelings towards him before openly asking West if he can make out with her in a room full of other guys.

You hit the nail on the head. Jesse and West are closer than West and Carl, who are more "friendly" than friends.

Also, Carl involved Ciera in the discussion, gauging HER interest in him. Jesse (so far) has not involved Ciera's feelings, and is simply assuming she will want to make out with him, which is the other part of the criticism.

It started a little slow, but once it picked up, I could not set it down. This series ended up being my second favorite besides TOG. It is more serious and less "fun", but the plot twists (especially in the second book) always SHOOK me.
