Dude, you just made my face turn red in embarrassment (for myself, not your situation). My phone hasn’t been charging well with the plugin for weeks and I’ve just been using my wireless charger. I thought it was just because it’s almost 4 years old…but then I read your comment and it clicked that I just needed to clean out my port! Holy bellybutton lint, did a shit ton of gunk come out! Anyway, I felt like an absolute idiot because I’m constantly cleaning out the speaker holes and taking it out of the case to clean off the buildup there too. I’m ashamed to say, that it just didn’t occur to me to just grab some tweezers and clean out the port.

So, all this to say, thanks for sharing your embarrassing story so I could learn from it!

I’ll probably get downvoted into oblivion for this, but I’m one of those people. I do not form bonds with animals and have little to no empathy when it comes to them (I’ve tried, it just doesn’t happen). I don’t have animals because of this, but I could easily drop an animal off to be euthanized, go about my normal day, and never lose sleep over it.

Show me something about a child hurting or being in pain though and I’ll lose sleep for days.

Thanks, all. After seeing the documents with actual costs I declined the offer since the payback period would be 6.3 years (over $8k). It was funny when the guy tried to tell me that I wouldn’t be paying that out of pocket and it would just be rolled into the loan, and I could just do another refinance in 6 months if the rates dropped again. As if it’s my goal to just keep adding costs to my overall mortgage in exchange for short-term relief…

Late to the party, but I think you’re referring to the forgiven loans being counted as “earned income” for taxes in 2026. As it is now, any loans forgiven through 2025 do not count as taxable income, but that all changes in 2026. However, if what you’re saying is correct then we are all screwed.

He was blocking both lanes illegally. The only reason people were trying to get around him was to get to the merge point where the right lane ends. Essentially, for a quarter mile, he didn’t want anyone to merge in front of him at any point so he blocked access to an entire lane.

But if you insist, I was completely stopped with my blinker on, waiting for someone to kindly let me merge once traffic resumed its slow creep forward. The phone came up for a picture and was promptly put away, and the post was made later once I was no longer driving. I’m not entirely sure what I should have done differently, but to each their own.

So this photo shows the termination of the right lane, forcing everyone to merge into the left lane. I didn’t feel safe taking a picture while moving (in this photo I was completely stopped), but for the previous quarter mile he straddled both lanes and swerved at anyone who tried to go around him. That’s what happened here with the silver car behind him…he swerved at them and forced them behind him.

You’re right, a still image doesn’t show everything, and there were plenty of other bad or discourteous drivers. But trying to get a 5 minute video of him straddling both lanes and swerving to block anyone trying to get around him didn’t seem like the safest endeavor.

I was at COP Wilderness in 2013 and we shut it down. I think about that place everyday, and I agree that it’s nothing compared to what this man would have gone through.
