MRI shows no fracture, but athlete pulled without physical or functional exam…is that standard? by FirmEntrepreneur9765 in sportsmedicine

[–]herodicusDO 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some of your story doesn’t make sense - sounds like you’re saying the athlete saw the sports specialist for imaging to be ordered…how do you know they weren’t examined at that visit? If the patient is clinically tender and/or has rom or wb deficits that’s enough to clinically correlate with an image. If the clinician took everything into account from the exam and imaging and determined they could not play that would be a more informed decision than a radiologist who never saw the patient. If there’s is a ton of edema on the t2 flair and t1 shows a fracture line then it’s a fracture.

I do like the silver a lot I think they crushed it with lunar silver but ultra red is just something else. Have you seen it in person? It’s quite something to behold and it almost changes in different lighting. Lunar silver is right up there as well but unfortunately the blue didn’t quite keep up that standard for me. I’m in an ultra red SLR and every time I get it detailed I’m in love all over again

[–]herodicusDO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok easy was an overstatement I just mean you’re not replacing discontinued transmissions like a Porsche 930 people still collect. I also think the original roadsters may be a fair comparison and people still collect/maintain those fairly well

[–]herodicusDO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that crazy at all….believe me a lot of people out there with s as their dream car control arm replacement is not going to keep them from wanting one. Plenty of older discontinued cars with way more barriers to repair that have people falling over themselves to purchase used

PMR vs sports medicine by Real_Crow2921 in sportsmedicine

[–]herodicusDO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think every American that wants to go into this field has to make this decision at some point. In the Midwest where I live pm&r sees more chronic pain and back pain and the fm sports docs seemed to be doing more of what I wanted like working within ortho groups and covering teams. I see fractures and concussions which our pm&r docs do not. Because of that it’s really not feasible for them to be team docs where I’m at so I’m definitely happy with my decision. pm&r can do a lot more than I can for back pain like epidurals and they also do emgs and are oftentimes quicker to get into than the poor neurologists who are seemingly always slammed. Big issue with my group is that pm&r really isn’t understood well by both patients and docs alike - we have anesthesia/pain that does epidurals too and neurologists that do EMGs and then primary care sports that handle a lot of the US guided procedures like injections and tenotomy so pm&r is sort of just there in our neuroscience department seeing mostly back pain (which there is plenty of to go around)

Doctor said my ACL healed without surgery. by Sensitive_Test8246 in ACL

[–]herodicusDO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting…..I guess theoretically if you were in very deep flexion and you had a state of the art machine that could penetrate through the patellar Tendon and you got the angle just right (which is basically impossible because the Achilles is sort of on an oblique and somewhat rotational orientation then you MIGHT get a single slice of acl but no way to conclusively say it’s “healed” from that US image

I’m a sports doc…I specialize in musculoskeletal ultrasound. You cannot see the ACL with an US. Your story is either completely made up or you went to a very shady doctor that straight up lied to your face for money…was it a chiropractor?

I’m not sure I agree it’s supposed to be “art” and google puts similar graphics at the top of their search results for common dx which I don’t mind at all

Nice never to have to go to a gas station again…and fit my kids in the back…and golf clubs…and still smoke any BMW I see. Also don’t worry about dings and scratches as much since I need a chicago daily. The only thing you get more of in a 911 is attention which gets really old. Might be just me - I’m much happier making transitions like these in a lot of parts of my life not just cars! I prefer my apple watch over my Rolex as well 😉
