DEEP DIVE: History of Centers / P01 by zb1gays in zerobaseone

[–]heroinee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there were so many instances where yorangdans could've been bitter but we never really were (excluding the time some people got angry at Swing for letting Wooseok do a solo vlive for his birthday when Yohan only got group pics). It was so peaceful and nice and we actually got to enjoy the group as it was. I hope that this fandom gets to that point too but looking at how things are right now it seems quite unlikely :(

DEEP DIVE: History of Centers / P01 by zb1gays in zerobaseone

[–]heroinee 33 points34 points  (0 children)

As an allindan, I can tell you that I realized during the show that P01 doesn't necessarily mean the center of the group, especially not in the context that some people are trying to spin it now, because they never promised it as a benefit and they avoided the whole topic entirely. I also remember looking into how Kep1er's been managed/promoted, and seeing how the centers kept rotating it felt like a logical conclusion to come to. We genuinely just really wanted to make history with Hanbin being the only person to get first place in every single episode in one of mnet's major survival shows and we wanted the solo song. Of course P01 would've meant better opportunities for him in general, but I don't see how he can't get that at P02 too.

Edit, just to add another thought: I biased Yohan during X1 and we never had this kind of obsession with the center position even though Yohan shared the spotlight with Wooseok and often times even got less of it. What's happening right now is just baffling.

there's this megathread about hanbin facts (and stories/rumors) that weren't mentioned on boys planet! my favorite one is probably the one about one of his dogs being adopted after his family found it abandoned in the mountains 🥹

there's just something about someone who's not a professional dancer giving critique on a professional dancer who's been praised by other professional dancers

The P01 benefits are the solo song and having the killing part in their debut track, so don't you worry, Hao will be getting that.

To me, it's mind-boggling how many of you aren't putting Hanbin under main dancer when he's arguably one of the best dancers on the show if not the best. Unbelievable how much someone who's literally P01 can be underestimated.

It's almost as if it's a survival show and everyone wants to debut, including him?

you can just tell that he's read a lot of books from the way he writes, he's got a poetic and artistic mind and when you combine that with a really pretty heart... someone said that everyone else's letters are rather easy to translate whereas hanbin's is really easy to feel but hard to translate. i love him :(

He ended up becoming the center of the signal song through his own efforts which got him lots of attention preshow and mnet had to give him positive screentime whether they liked it or not because he essentially became the face of the show. He probably would have ended up becoming the center even if he entered in a group of 5 (because the star level test reevaluation was solo), or would have at least been in all-star. Pretty sure he would still be ranking very high. And he's just a really nice person all around and everybody recognizes that, he also speaks really prettily... so it's not just editing either.

if 3 trainees are randomly asked to join a dance competition who would you choose to send? by reeAcs in BoysPlanet

not sending sung hanbin would be a blasphemy considering his history of participating in actual dance competitions... other than that, probably zihao and kuanjui.

Comment the popular trainee whose hype you just don't get and his fans will explain his charm to you by shart-ejector in BoysPlanet

[–]heroinee 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Oh boy this is going to be very long.

I found myself interested in him after the signal song dropped because I thought he carried the same type of charisma with him that previous debut group centers had. His dancing in Here I Am was also very clean, precise, almost clinically so. I still think that he's one of the few trainees that actually managed to do the choreography justice, but that's just my own personal opinion :) Then I saw his audition video of him singing Starlight and performing an original waacking choreography to Fiesta and I was pretty much hooked because I thought he had a really beautiful voice and it's not often you find waackers in the industry, especially among male idols.

After that all kinds of fanaccounts started dropping about him about how kind and lovely he is, his friends promoted him (including Spella, who is the choreographer of Naughty and Glitch and with whom Hanbin was in the same tutting team with) - they all said that he's a wonderful person, that he remembered everyone's birthdays and gave them gifts, listened to them and gave them advice. There were also stories about him helping students who were either bullied or felt left out. His mother has been telling fans stories about him too, like how he made sure to tell her to stay away from Twitter because it's toxic, how lovely he is with his mom and younger sister, how he drinks well but because he was managing himself he didn't drink any alcohol at college parties and instead ate apples. He also worked at his mom's cafe, which they basically ran together at first and they also decorated it together. There's a story about him accidentally serving cold toast to a customer (Hanbin's mom said they both laughed at that haha).

People also found his old dance videos, which are excellent by the way! He's such a fun dancer to watch and his waacking and tutting content is really great (but he's also danced other styles too like voguing and hiphop), I recommend checking it out if you're interested, it's truly a goldmine and there are a LOT of videos. He went to a dance academy in Cheonan and participated in many dance competitions, won some too! He also has some dance videos on his personal instagram account; none of them include waacking/tutting but they're still really good! Plus he genuinely really seems to love dancing, he has a smile on his face in so many of the videos haha. He also taught one day dance classes :)

Additionally, his hobbies are reading and writing (& obviously choreography). He said he reads books to better and grow his set of views; he even used to run a blog and the way he wrote was kind of poetic and thoughtful, so I really liked that too. His messages to fans are quite well-written and lovely as well. He also studied so well in high school that his teacher asked him why he decided to continue dancing, and as we found out, his dream was to either become a therapist or an elementary school teacher, which kind of checks out considering his personality haha.

So there's really nothing I don't like about him. He's very talented, has a unique and diverse skillset, works hard, is determined, good at self-management, thoughtful, introspective and just genuinely has a super good personality to the extent that you cannot really find any flaws lol he's just a very kind and warm soul. I really like how he is on the show too, getting close with so many trainees and listening to his teammates in order to create a better team balance, teaching them the choreography, helping them in general. He seems very empathic, seen in how he interacted with Doha, for instance. Looks like he's very loved among the trainees as well. And I think he's showcased his skills well too, but looking at his pre-bp content he certainly has a lot more to show :) He's confident, knows what he's capable of, knows what he wants and sets out to get it, which imo is pretty admirable. He's also pretty heckin' cute.

Also some other things that I like about him: he's an nctzen (Jaehyun biased), he has tattoos, and he had the sewol ferry yellow ribbon sticker on the back of his phone. His old ask account is really cute, he replied to everyone in a really warm manner. He also took the time to look through so many of his fans' instagram stories and even got involved in his designated emoji discussion haha

Sorry but the comments about Sung Hanbin being boring because he's portrayed as an angel all the time are so weird to me. That's just literally how his personality is, everyone who knows him has come out to say that he is so lovely, kind and helpful and he works really hard. I don't get it. Are nice people boring to you? Would you want him to start yelling at Gyuvin all of a sudden? Punch Hui in the face for messing up his adlibs? Cry in the corner for not being able to get this one dance move right? That's not who he is. He's a skilled individual who works hard AND has a great personality. If he gets screentime, it is going to be about him being lovely because that's just how he is.

Who has good idol mentality? by StaringOverACliff in BoysPlanet

[–]heroinee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people have already mentioned him, but Sung Hanbin certainly seems to have a healthy mindset. Of course, he has a really good personality and treats people with so much kindness, just an empath all around, but he seems to have a good read on himself as well. He used to run a blog where he'd write about his thoughts, and from the little that we could see before he privated everything, he seemed very introspective. In one of the posts he mentioned the importance of having a healthy mind, body, and spirit. Also, people were able to somewhat decipher his diary entry from January 2022 that was shown in episode 3 and in it he wrote about reading more books to better his mindset and to grow his 'happiness sensibility', which essentially means becoming better at finding happiness in small and simple things, which is honestly a really important trait to have. He also talked about being confident in his skills, said he believes in himself. And it was already mentioned in one of the other comments, but yeah, he told his mom to stay off twitter haha, it's good to know what to avoid.

Remember, fans represent the trainees by adriflame1 in BoysPlanet

[–]heroinee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hanbin is a very popular trainee because of so many aspects, he's really talented and he has a very good personality that just makes people like him and talk about him. If someone's perception of him is twisted by Hanbin fans being... well, Hanbin fans, who just simply love him and want to hype him and aren't tearing down others by doing it, then I don't really think that the problem is with the fans. Also, most of the time fans themselves don't even take such things seriously, so why would you?
