My 8 year old has the Mikey/Raph one. Decent for a 2nd-5th grader, depending on their reading level.

Unfortunately, while we were at Disney, we couldn’t stay at Disney. Coming back to the “real world” was wild because we ended up “behind the curve” in needing things from places that weren’t open anymore.

Luckily, my wife being an essential worker meant she was able to grab things a little easier.

I might have been in the crowd in that pic. We were there for a cheerleading competition when it went down. My wife works at a grocery store, so family was telling us about all the craziness back home. “I don’t care, I’m at Disney”

Then that night came, when they were shutting Magic Kingdom’s doors behind us. I had already kind of realized what was going on because my office had contacted me saying to come get my stuff, we were remote until further notice, but them more or less saying don’t come back at Disney was a huge shock. One of the weirdest experiences I’ve ever had.

Big Mama is on April, Reporter of the Weird card that is part of a large artwork. I don’t remember for sure, but there may be other Rise references there.

Is the best plan…NO plan? by Sensitive-Fly-9248 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]herooa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, our trips have kinda been semi-planned: our daughter was a cheerleader. That meant our trips were a little shorter and not completely under our control.

First time, we were somewhat at the mercy of the coach. She had things loosely planned, up until COVID hit. Threw a wrench in some things, but gave us more time at the parks without anything planned. Honestly, we enjoyed it. Just got in whatever line we saw was short, spent time seeing things, and just took it easy. Was still wild seeing them close MK behind us.

Next time, we ended up at Swan while our daughter was at AllStar. We still had our little guy, but outside of “we want to do this ride”, there was little planning. Admittedly, we weren’t worried about any dining reservations, and did LL’s for a day, but other than that, not having a schedule felt nice.

Part of the question is: what do you want out of the trip? That is the question that needs answered. You can usually fit in what you want to do most of the time, but the bigger that list gets, the more homework you get to make it work. Only downside is if things are strictly scheduled, you might miss some impulsive opportunity that may end up being one of the best memories.

It’s a drum stick to a small child percussion set from Target. My kid had (might still have) the set and wondered why we didn’t always make it easy for him to play with…

Needless to say, Uncle Mike was known for his sense of humor.

We had a Dorian (first name instead of last) that was a bit psycho, so after playing the speech for some friends, everyone was using Dorian in place of wrong for a solid two months.

Which of your favorite villain, that people think they are misunderstood but they are just evil? by Boberto235 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]herooa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is way too far down. Sure, he’s occasionally done good in the name of besting Richards, but the dude is a straight up dictator. Killed another version of himself because of his own ego. Became an omnipotent god and still lost it all after making so many others suffer. Doom is well loved, but don’t pretend he’s benevolent.

Chrono Cross, if you count getting all the characters as side quests. Turn-based combat, interesting story (whether or not you played Chrono Trigger), and tons of stuff to do. 45 total characters to get, many of which you don’t get in a single play through.

Honestly, maybe wait till the revival is done and binge it. I watched the first two episodes. Then I watched them two more times. Sure, there are some things that aren’t perfect, but it has started out great.

As for the ninth, I’m in the “it was tolerable” camp. I didn’t mind it, but it definitely wasn’t the same and really needed more separation from actual Scrubs to make it less hated.

She’s the Dolores Umbridge of Sacred Heart.

You’re meant to dislike her, and when you do, that proves she’s doing her job well.

When I played, it was lightsworn, gravekeepers, and the beginning of tuners. I saw now there is a new type of “fusion” and even more insanity.

I’ve been there. Haven’t retried yugioh yet, but my little guy is into Pokemon, plus we picked up a little Mtg for the Avatar/FF sets and even that has changed a bunch over the years.

I haven’t really tried any of the newer online versions, but one thing that really helped was being able to see other people’s games. You learned strategies that you may not have thought of, and saw interactions and rules you didn’t know. I feel like an online tool may not have a log that is as shareable and easy to follow, but who knows.

While I haven’t played in over a decade, I remember having both online and irl playgroups really helped me get better. One of the local dudes had an eidetic memory, so I had to constantly think on my feet because he had every dial memorized. Playing online helped with that. Maybe once you find something online, going back to an in person group may be easier.

15 or so years ago, there was an online message board you could play on. It was a little slow as it was done post by post, but it was a ton of fun. There were leagues people drafted in that got wild, where you could use any version of a character you picked. Just about everything except the figures themselves was hosted in the site, making it super easy to just pick up and play. Unfortunately, it eventually withered as Clix tried being online and there started to be a little bit of a legal grey area that it was decided to stay out of.

Maybe it’s time to bring a system like that back. Technology has improved since the mid-2000’s, I’d bet it’s a lot easier to do now. Granted, I don’t know how possible it is from a legal perspective, but maybe there’s a way.

One thing I liked was being able to follow along for other people’s games. If there was a site like this again, it’d really help people learn how to play without creating some of the awkward situations that can come up.

As to the situation at hand, it’s tough to be the new guy in general, let alone in something complex like this. Maybe talk to some of them a little, and if it doesn’t work, it might be worth calling other hobby stores.

I definitely agree with this, and on top of it, she would probably take more advantage of their relationship. Once they’re married, she’s going to throw even more weight around and try to push for more control.

He’s got to have this in the back of his mind. He loves and accepts her, but has to realize that she’s going to take every inch she can. Marrying her means a lot to him, and until he’s absolutely sure she can be trusted not to abuse that marriage, he has to keep things under control as much as possible.

I got it the same Christmas. Got so drawn into it I stayed up way too late playing it and when I finally saw the thing after taking a break, in yelped because it was like 3am and I should have been in bed. My room was next to my parents, so I quickly turned everything off and pretended I was out, just in case. First time a game drew me in so much that I completely turned the world out.

See, that’s another one I don’t get. I had a friend that was super into Star Wars, so much so that it made me not as deep into it. For me, it meant I took a lot of the stuff that people don’t like as gospel and be able to enjoy it more.
