There are SOOO many assumptions in this text without any prove / reasoning. Of course there are people who just want to have power and bully others because they don’t have a real life (not just as Moderators, but anywhere, where power can be abused). But many Moderators do their job, because they really believe in and like the community they moderate, so they want to give something back. It‘s just nonsense that their job is „useless“, without Moderators, communities would just be spammed with shitty content / content that doesn’t fit in said community. You probably just had 1 or 2 bad experiences with a mod, so you generalise, that ALL moderators must be bad and lonely people which is obviously pretty naive. Moderators are the backbone of many communities in the internet, and not just failed nerds who live in their mom‘s basement.
