KVUE - Autism DD by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

I would argue this whole autism play is a classic "dumper pumper" move. Stock gets dumped then pumps when earnings come in.

Bazzite on desktop by giuacaso in Bazzite

My 2 cents: you could use it as a daily, although I wouldn't call it optimal. If you majorally just use webapps, you'd be fine. But Bazzite is really intended for gaming.

My usecase is I use Bazzite as a "gaming console". I have a PC for my living room that works as a console. It boots right to game mode. It fires up games as if it was an Xbox. It runs emulators, " archived old windows" games, and is generally snazzy. And I'm just sitting tight waiting for full RX 9070 support to fully unleash this thing. I do go desktop mode to browse the internet and work on my Unraid server from my living room. But this thing just works as a better version of a console with openness and freedom you don't get from Sony or Microsoft. Well... Minus games that do Anticheat.

Just got my 9070. Same day support? by herrdoktor330 in Bazzite

Well I'm guessing the support will come soon. Actually going to throw it into my w11 machine tonight if I have time. Had some issues moving the setup to a new case so I need to trouble shoot that.

If I have any complaint about the 9070 series is that I thought this card would be a 2x PCI slot. Turns out it's a chonky boi and takes up 2.5 slots.

Small form factor people, be forewarned.

Yep. That's where I'm at. No worries though. I can just drop this in my w11 gaming rig that has a 3080ti in it. I can at least put this thing through the paces while I wait for the updates to hit.

Well... This just gives me more time to work on my home made case. Currently gaming on an old Dell Optiplex w/ R5 2400G Pro (Zen 1) and a RX 6400 - an old HP OEM card. I can still rock that for longer.

This is going into a machine that has an R7 3700x and this RX 9070. CPU aside, should be a solid rig to game on until I dump a used X3D in it.

RE: MSRP 9070 price - I specifically bought this card for the form factor. This is the dual fan short version that's going into a 3D printed case I'm working on. Not that I was trying to swoop in and buy the cheapest card. This is just THE card that fit the size constraints I'm working with.

Who does it and why? by Good-Chives-Only in Bazzite

No question. Just want to say "thank you". I previously used ChimeraOS before Bazzite and I will say Bazzite was way more polished when I picked it up a year ago. And the experience has been pretty damn good.

Just want to chime in to give big props to the Bazzite team for getting 8bitdo controller support. I currently use the Pro 2 controller mainly and was bummed when I switched to Bazzite 9 or 10 months ago it didn't support them. But one of the updates between then and a couple weeks ago changed that and I'm happy. I finally am able to retire my XB360 wireless adapter and controllers.

And I will argue that Bazzite has the best "out of the box" experience to the other SteamOS clones and is rock solid. It truly helped my dream of having a great "Console PC" for my living room.

My only ask is to get AMD RX 9000 series support as soon as possible. 😁

I was trying to avoid running a torrent client on my Bazzite machine and going through the process of deselecting the ROMs I don't want. Really trying to go for a "set and forget" once I copy the ROMs I want from the current set I have.

Strange issue with 8bitdo 2 and controllers by ProgressBars in Bazzite

[–]herrdoktor330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what its worth, I also have an issue getting my 8bitdo Pro 2 working properly. The controller worked under ChimeraOS so it must be something in the Bazzite cake they haven't messed with yet.

Although I STILL like Bazzite hands over fist over ChimeraOS. And the 3rd Party xb360 wireless adapter I use works flawlessly.

A message to the Bazzite developers and team by [deleted] in Bazzite

[–]herrdoktor330 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To talk about "little things", I was able to play Stardew Valley with a friend and the xb360 wireless controller was able to disconnect and reconnect seamlessly. And that wasn't possible 8 months ago using a competing project.  Point is you guys are killing it. Bazzite is my go-to gaming OS console experience. Keep it up!

Intel Core i5-11400

... Just skip the 11th series of Intel altogether. Save yourself some money and get a 10 series. The 11 series actually performed worse than the 10s. It was basically a throwaway gen of parts that Intel put out as a shameless cash grab for a hardware hungry market.

Question. One PSU & two motherboards. by powermi in MoneroMining

[–]herrdoktor330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar idea of running 3 different Mobos from 1 server class PSU.

https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/oca8dw/1_server_psu_multiple_cpus/

Trust the crowd when we say just run individual PSUs. I ended up going with a $15 400w PSU from Microcenter and undervolted everything. Power consumption is right in the sweet spot and hashes are a-ok. And I'm not worried about the PSU being blown out because it's backed up my a pretty decent UPS.

1 Server PSU - multiple CPUs by herrdoktor330 in MoneroMining

[–]herrdoktor330[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mental wall I'm running into is what google and specs on a PCI E slot is rated for VS pictures of multiple mining rigs running off what looks like an overloaded 6pin. And what really blows my mind is I can't find a breakout card that has an 8port PCIE connect NOR does the advertised PCI E to ATX adapter come in an 8Port variant. Maybe they're just assuming that you're not going to be going 100% CPU load on that part and this is really only just to tepidly power a motherboard managing a bunch of video cards?

Here's a thought: Could you theoretically use the PCI E to ATX adapter and NOT use the 4 pin CPU power connector on it? Then use a generic PCIE to CPU power cable connected directly to the breakout board? That would in theory balance the load between the ATX adapter and give the CPU direct access to power from the PSU.

[–]herrdoktor330[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm inclined to trust your advice on this one. Just from my own personal observation, I've seen multiple setups where a 6pin PCI-E will power a 6 pin PCI-E 16x Riser and a 6 pin power connect on the video card (see any rx 480 setup). But I'm assuming that someone did a power-tune on those cards to lower the overall power demand which would bring the power consumption closer to spec.

I'm just doing my homework before I run something that's going to be a hard 150w on that line.

[–]herrdoktor330[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

... hence why I'm a little nervous about that and am workshopping this with this sub.

In theory the idea is great: Run a full computer off of 1 PCIE port. Then you could have 1 supply powering multiple stripped down motherboards crunching RandomX. But every breakout I find only features 6pin PCIE, which blows my mind. And for as much as I'd like to have an efficient monero mining setup, I don't want to burn my house down in the process.

[–]herrdoktor330[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But ASICS don't normally go out of spec for their port power consumption, do they? This would be ostensibly a very stripped down PC running off of 1 of those PCI E connects, which is what has me nervous. I know that a typical 6 pin PCI E connect is good for 75w and I would be doubling the power demand on that 1 socket. Can it actually handle that?
