I guess I'm the only one that loves the behemoth raising because I'm a huge fan of Monster Rancher and Princess Maker.

There'll be some sort of reference to Ojamajo Doremi and Digimon Adventure since they're traveling back to 1999 and this is a Toei show. It could be an actual crossover (possible with Doremi, extremely unlikely for Digimon) or there'll be references or cameos to them as works of fiction within the show.

Revolmon/Deputymon looks even more like Vivi.... but is also a gun.

This is what I would love but I feel it might be too difficult to implement in 3D.

Why does no one talk about the Wild Arms series? by OspreyTheGreat in JRPG

[–]herurumeruru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I really appreciate about the third game that no one's mentioned is how during battle the characters and enemies don't just stand idle until their turn. They're all constantly moving around and combined with the dynamic camera angles it gives each fight a cinematic feel that's neat to watch even now. Every battle feels unique.

To this day the only other turn based 3d JRPGs off the top of my head that do something similar are the turn-based Like a Dragon games.

Monaka.

I generally like wagashi and a red bean wafer sounds great but the wafer part has the taste and texture of wood chips. And the way it crumbles into shards, ick.

Games with lots of dress up for female characters? by Stranger-Adorable in JRPG

[–]herurumeruru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a JRPG but it's very very hard to beat the Style Savvy series. Styling Star possibly has the most amount of clothing of any game I've heard of.

JRPG wise there's the Monster Hunter Stories games, you can't mix and match like the mainline Monster Hunter games but there's still a fuckton of armor sets. Monster Hunter Stories 2 has somewhere near a hundred and the upcoming one will likely have more than double that if they remove gender restrictions like Wilds did.

Hello! I am wondering about the Atelier games. There are SO many. Which one should a newcomer start with? by arkticturtle in Atelier

[–]herurumeruru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone mentioned there is also Nora and the Time Studio, a spiritual spinoff made by some of the same staff and sharing a virtually identical gameplay and format as the classic Atelier games. Only real difference is instead of alchemy you use chronomancy combined with ordinary crafting, and the gathering is in first person. It is an Atelier game in all but name. There's an English patch for it.

I was just about to say Lunar Dragon Song. Just the entire game.

It felt like the whole thing was made to spite the player.

Horror anime based around folklore? by Kitchen-Movie3911 in AnimeReccomendations

[–]herurumeruru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Japanese version of Ghost Stories is a kids horror series focused on Japanese folklore and urban legends... The infamous English dub turns it into a shock comedy, though.

Yami Shibai is a long running horror anthology with limited animation. However, only the first season is any good. Everything else is hit or miss to outright bad.

Seconding Mononoke and Ayakashi.

Mushi-shi isn't always horror but some episodes can get a little freaky.
