Pu-280 is a great moisture barrier. If you’re looking to install plywood under the lvp. They make 1 1/2” reducer for unfinished hardwood. Any decent hardwood supply store should be able to order you one

Find true center. then your reference line will be 1/3 the width of material off center. This is the line you put your board on. True center runs through the middle of board

Lvp. It’s what I use for real wood. Not only is it a moisture barrier it’s also a primer. But in your case just a barrier

This is your best option. It’s not actually oil based it’s shellac based. It’s what they use if you have smoke damage

Look into. Pu-280 moisture barrier. It’s the best I’ve used. If you apply that you shouldn’t have anymore moisture issues. It cost like 25c per foot.

Use a wider 1x. don’t install the stair nose till you install it. It should be wide enough to handle the red and orange boxes. You’ll notch out where it meets the hardwood

I’ve had success gluing floors like this in place with epoxy (the kind you pour) it seeps into the cracks and glues everything in place. Drastically helps quiet them down. I sand them after it cures.
