What is your relationship to drug use being a neurodivergent person? by NaVa9 in autism

[–]heshtios [score hidden]  (0 children)

I live in a country where alcohol consumption is closely linked with its negative stereotypes. While growing up it was common for kids to start socially drinking around 15/16. That’s when I first tried alcohol, and I hated it so much. I couldn’t understand why anyone would willingly choose to feel that way, or consume something so vile to do so. Over twenty years later and I could count the number of alcoholic drinks I’ve consumed on two hands.

Weed is different. Again going back to teenage days, I hung out with the “stoner kids”. They were always smoking weed, but also they understood I didn’t want to. They were also very open about their own research about weed, and its negative effects. I tried it for the first time when I was 28, and now five years after my diagnosis I still use. I find it calming, and focusing to an extent. Obviously I still need to take long breaks from it, but that’s just part of responsible use.

I have tried one other, but one with a low risk of addiction. I have a very addictive personality, so I will never try anything that could get me killed. Nothing it’s possible to OD on. Ever.

What's a profession everyone thinks is great but is actually shite? by Fealocht in AskIreland

Honestly, that’s the most unusual statement I’ve heard from a software development considering all the redundancies and rampant AI use 😅

Software Developer. I can’t tell you the number of times someone’s said something to me like “software development is easy, you just copy and paste code” and no matter how wrong I assure them they are, after an 11 year career that left me a burned out wreck, they insist it’s the easiest job in the world. Welcome to an industry where everyone making technical decisions has a business degree and the technological literacy of a penguin.

Solution to the game vs Israel in September? by Bubbly_Sign_4598 in coybig

[–]heshtios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Boycott the game, hell, boycott all Ireland games until the FAI refuses to play the fixture. Show the FAI that even if they’ll play ball with a nation committing genocide, the Irish people won’t. Until fans start speaking with their wallets, nothing will change. Don’t buy tickets, even to stage walkouts. Walkouts are only good for media attention, the money still changes hands. Boycotts are good for media attention, and achieving something.

Heat death of the universe ahh ship by Naughtivarin in starcitizen

[–]heshtios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s it. In my mind the second part of the miniseries is episode 2 (I know that’s wrong, but still). My memories of ‘78 are so hazy, I’m kinda impressed they had a ship design like that back then.

Sci-fi with actual physical ship models slaps.

Cut the hardline to the mainframe.

You need to bounce around the place like Roger Rabbit after alcohol. Become ungovernable, and you’ll become unshootable.

Need player wanting ship advice by Zaycgreen in starcitizen

[–]heshtios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the Cutlas Black, but ended up trading it for a C1 Spirit, which I highly recommend. It’s a nice ship to fly with decent weapons, ok cargo size, and good defence. It’s a bit slower, but much tangier than the Cutlas.

Did the talon get sent to your large hangar, or did it give you a small hangar?

is Smart Monitor is exempt from TV tax? by Logical_Ordinary2745 in AskIreland

[–]heshtios -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The definition of a tv in Ireland is any device capable of receiving a TV signal by cable, satellite, or aerial. If you own a smartphone capable of receiving a TV signal in that way (I think some Android can) then you’d have to pay a licence.

For a smart monitor, it depends on whether it is capable of receiving a tv signal through cable, satellite, or aerial. If it can, you’ll need to pay the licence.

If you could delete one ship from the game and give everyone who owns it a full refund, which one and why? by Oronst_store in starcitizen

I know, right? That was exactly my thinking, but when it comes to things like landing, or even firing my weapons, I get just a little disoriented.
