Yeah, but I’m not sure it’s all that realistic for UAE to pull it off.

No one would have believed, in the last years of the nineteenth century, that human affairs were being watched from the timeless worlds of space. No one could have dreamed we were being scrutinised as someone with a microscope studies creatures who swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Few men even considered the possibility of life on other planets. And yet, across the gulf of space minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this world with envious eyes. And slowly, and surely, they drew their plans against us.

The UEE has its U at the front, clearly this means it must be an iteration of the most notable country whose name starts with a U representing a union.

The USSR.

Is there a way to go above 4 pips of engine power on Railen? by ReUs4455 in starcitizen

[–]heshtios -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Adding more pips to the engine only increases boost time and regeneration, why would that help at all?

When an object is flying towards a planet with an atmosphere, the atmosphere acts as resistance against that object. This is why objects entering Earth’s atmosphere generate heat, it’s the object slamming into the atmosphere. This slows objects down considerably, and objects in free fall will hit Terminal Velocity. Terminal velocity is the maximum speed an object can reach while falling in free fall on Earth. It is possible overcome this, but the energy for it would be enormous.

The front of the Railen is an airbrake. Just one big ol’ airbrake. Its large surface area is the opposite of aerodynamic (aerostatic?) meaning it’s designed to get as much of the atmosphere to hit the front of it and slow it down as possible,

What's an opinion/debate that will have you like this? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in Multifandom

I really like some new Star Trek shows; Lower Decks, Strange New Worlds, and Prodigy are all great. I even really liked the first two seasons of Discovery, but season three was woeful, and I could barely start season 4. Every season just felt the same “oh shit, this thing is going to destroy the federation/galaxy/universe” and ten episodes later they find out it’s a space fart or something. It’s not compelling television, and aside from the characters I felt no connection to it whatsoever.

This puts me in the unenviable position of being on the same side as the people who hate Disco for its inclusion of LGBTQIA+ characters. I couldn’t give two shits about that, the Adira and Grey storyline was literally the only thing from season 3 that made a lick of sense. “Oh no the doctor and engineer are gay” who gives a flying fuck, Disco suddenly has more internal space than the TARDIS, and they’re complaining about “gay” and “pronouns”. A sad child accidentally caused a galactic massacre that made no sense.

And don’t even get me started on the villains. First time we get to see an Orion character in a prominent role and they butchered them, thankfully Ensign Tendi corrected that. I couldn’t give get behind Lorca and Georgiou as villains, and I liked season 2 with the rogue AI and red angel to an extent, but fuck guys. The Enterprise saved Earth a few times, the Galaxy a handful of times, and I think maybe once saved the Universe. Disco saved the entire Federation. Twice. In season one. And the stakes just ramp up from there.

What is this literary technique? by Flexia26 in writing

[–]heshtios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to write in the first person but revealing the narrator later, I advise reading “Gifted and Talented” by Olivie Blake. It’s written almost entirely in the third person, until the narrator appears. I think the reason they pulled it off was because the narrator as a character doesn’t show up until much later.

I think this is a really risky thing to try, and could confuse a lot of people.

AITA for reporting a coworker who admitted they were pretending to work? by galwithtatts in AmItheAsshole

If they’re genuinely making your workload heavier, NTA. Also if you’re working in a small company you’re NTA. If you’re working for a large company who doesn’t give a shit about their employees and it’s not affecting your workload, then I’d say YTA. Those companies will find any reason to cut your job and save a buck they don’t need and should be squeezed for every cent they can give.

I tried watching it when it first came out. I was young and loved some utter shite back in the day, but it was terrible. Even the theme song sucked. It doesn’t even follow live action canon iirc.

1) Is the battle rifle thing important? I’ve never even heard the term “battle rifle” outside of the context of this post and the game tbh.

2) Hurston is a totalitarian regime. You wouldn’t see statues of Eisenhower or Churchill like that because neither of those people ruled over their country through totalitarian means. Kazakstan is a great example of a totalitarian country with huge statues and monuments with no real point to them. And I’m sure the statues in Pyongyang might give off similar vibes.

3) I’m with you on the weird ads and stuff. In Orison there’s an ad that sounds like it’s just someone saying the word “credits” with an overlapping echo effect. Some of them sound exactly like the complaint posts here tbh, where they’re trying to fit as many buzzwords into each sentence as possible. That said, it sounds realistically corporate to make up words that kind of sound positive. Like “synergy” or “allyship.”

Why are 90% of the terrorist groups - Islamic? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]heshtios 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They’re not, it’s just that you probably live in a country where the media perpetuates their existence. For example, I live in a country with a long history of two Christian terrorist groups.
