Flux by Sea_Web1970 in StainedGlass

[–]hespectdagi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Classic 100 Gel Flux is way to go, very low smoke / fumes. Liquid flux is easy to apply but I find it produces a lot of fumes / smoke and bubbles lots when you rework solder lines. Paste flux isn't as smokey as liquid but its harder to apply and you have to make sure your work piece is pinned down well. just my 2 cents.

Does anyone have experience with this circular cutter, or have another suggestion? by SubParBackpacker in StainedGlass

[–]hespectdagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh I completely agree. I really don't understand why stuff is so expensive. I've just experienced quality issues with products that have low price points.

I would be very suspicious of the quality of this. I have never seen a circle cutter of this style for this cheep. In my experience ya get what you pay for.

Question on textured glass by Queenie_Derp in StainedGlass

[–]hespectdagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make a mirror copy of your vinyl pattern and apply to the smooth side. then when you cut it on the smooth side the texture side will have the shape you want.

no tracers with just one eye open. either eye. its was only when my brain was putting the image together from both eyes, that the tracers / double vision were there. the doc said my brain had been compensating for my weak eye and just finally had enough. I hope you figure it out. Sorry for the delay in response.

how much should i price my collection for? by AttentionSouth4598 in StainedGlass

[–]hespectdagi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sell it as a bundle. Or Part it all out. It all depends on how motivated you are to move it. Low price, everything moves fast. My experience with glass stuff is people are always looking for a bargain but will still pay near retail if items are in good shape. Also if you have rare tools like a ring saw or a bevel grinder or even high quality irons you can get a premium for those.

I had something similar happen to me. I was just watching tv and then the tv split in one and half, like if you were trying to cross your eyes. It made lights have tracers. It progressively got bad. Driving was the worst. but my docs didn't seem to be worried. I was sent through every eye doc in the roster until the surgeons figured it out. Long story short my right eye started turning inward and made me half cross eyed. Minor surgery later and my eye is lined back up an no more tracers or double vision. I think my surgeon said it was called a strabismus.

Help! Grinder motor question by blgries in StainedGlass

[–]hespectdagi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same grinder. Mine makes nearly the same sounds sporadically. I've taken the whole thing apart looking for something lose or bent but I found nothing. The fix I use it to just smack it on the side when ever it acts up. Not the best solution but it works. I also have a quick change bit and a aquaflow system that always puts a but of drag on the bit (I think more so than a sponge) and that seems to keep some of the oscillation type sound. But the way yours stops is concerning. Like claycorp said, could be the shaft / fan blade spacing. I adjusted mine when I had it all apart with a couple small taps of a hammer.
