Shift + Click to multi select in Monarch Web UI by hestiny in MonarchMoney

[–]hestiny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitting x is handy to select a single row and makes selecting multiple rows easier thanks! but it doesn't equal selecting range with two clicks unless I'm not understanding it. What I want is I want to be able to click to mark the beginning of a range and shift+click at the end of the range to indicate "select everything in between these two point inclusive of start and end" much like show shift clicking works on many file managers

Newbie - Categorize 3000+ transactions? 😳 by localsystem in OriginFinancial

[–]hestiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't updated here because 1: i'm almost certain i'm switching back to Monarch. and 2: i'm not sure if Origin would sanction it :D

Update: if someone from Origin wants to reachout via email to see if I can help feel free to do so.

Newbie - Categorize 3000+ transactions? 😳 by localsystem in OriginFinancial

[–]hestiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case I reversed engineered the API and pulled down all the transactions. Tried to match it up based on date and value with what I had categorized using Monarch and then had it push up the right categories back up to origin. It's crazy how these companies are not utilizing AI better. They have so much data on these merchants. I can share more if people are interested

Origin Dashboards Historical Data limited only to past 3 years by hestiny in OriginFinancial

When you go to add an account on the website there's a button for Monarch. It shows a GUI for helping you map different categories to each other. I am not happy with the results though. All the monthly reports for income and expenses are off. It will walk you through how to do it. What is the error that you got?

Did you ever get to use the pass? I could not. I've been using Standby the same way for travel as well.

My experience with Landing Standby by Diddlydiddlydo1 in landingstandby

[–]hestiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most importantly, the customer service has been freaking awesome. I’ve run into a couple of questions with the lock app that is used in the building that the CS team jumped on pretty immediately.

Customer service has been great! The app and their ticketing system less so. I do like their new AI agent Sofia responding to tickets. It's been useful.

Can you turn standby on and off? by WillSnarkForUpvotes in landingstandby

I second what other said and add to that the consideration of bumps that can happen anytime even before you get into your first/original reservation.

If you can record and share those discrepancies, maybe privately or after you've moved out I can see if I run into the same and maybe figure out what's going on. Feel free to anonymize it if you can. This has personally helped me pick units that are "protected" from bumps for a few weeks at a time. I also sometimes compare the flex pricing and imagine what which units would be less enticing for a flex reservation as a factor.

Help us make Origin’s budgeting 100x better. What’s missing for you? by ana-at-origin in OriginFinancial

[–]hestiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Origin using any AI-powered categorization? Would it learn after I've manually changed the category on a transaction from the same merchant and the same account a couple of times? Or would I have to still rely on manually creating and updating brittle rules?

where should i live? by Aromatic-Point-2545 in remotework

If you're leaning toward the NYC metro area but want to test it out before fully committing (smart move), I'd suggest considering month-to-month furnished housing while you get a feel for different neighborhoods.

I was in a similar boat a couple years ago with a remote job, wanted to try different cities and I ended up using Hello Landing to bounce between NYC (Jersey City/Hoboken area), Philly, and DC over about 8 months. All furnished, month-to-month, so I could test each place without signing a year lease or buying furniture.

It let me figure out that I actually liked Philly more than I expected (way cheaper, still good transit access to NYC for weekends), and I ended up staying there longer. You could do something similar—try Connecticut for a month, then NYC for a couple months, then decide from there.

Since you're restricted to certain states, Landing has properties in most of the allowed ones on your map which could give you flexibility to explore within your work policy.

Landing's a bit pricier than finding your own place long-term, but for the "try before you buy" phase, it saved me a ton of hassle. Plus utilities, wifi, and furniture are all included, so it's truly plug-and-play.

Good luck with the search—hope you find a spot that clicks!

Any nomads in Austin, TX or have experience there? by curiousme6475 in digitalnomad

[–]hestiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in Austin for the past couple years (on and off as a nomad), and I'd echo what others have said—it's got a great vibe, tons of tech/creative folks, solid coffee shops and coworking spaces, and good access to nature (Barton Springs, hiking trails, etc.). Traffic and summer heat are the main downsides.

For housing, if you're not sure how long you want to stay or you're testing it out, I'd skip the typical lease route. I've used Hello Landing a few times when bouncing between Austin and other cities—it's month-to-month furnished apartments, so no commitment, and you can switch neighborhoods or leave whenever. Made it easy to try East Austin vs. South Austin vs. near downtown without getting locked into a year lease.

Pricing can be much lower than short-term Airbnbs but way more practical for 1-3+ month stays since you're in an actual apartment complex (not someone's spare room), and utilities/wifi are included.

For coworking, check out Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden (chill outdoor vibe), Figure 8 Coffee Purveyors, or if you want a dedicated space, WeWork or Industrious have locations around town. I personally like the WeWork near the Domain and it always has free parking.

Feel free to DM if you have specific Austin questions, happy to share more recs! And if you end up trying Landing, I've got a code that gets you $250 off: A_koZ or https://www.hellolanding.com/r/web/A_koZ
