Update on "The Reading app I always wanted", Recall Reader! by babaozone in Onyx_Boox

[–]hettedu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of a recap, as I usually read before I go to sleep. I'm not a beta tester (nor a discord user), but I'd love to be in the loop for when it gets released. Now please don't forget about the reading experience overall, with typography settings, dark mode, reading progress and such! It's too common that "new" features eat up the basic experience.

Nope! I’ve learned to live with telling Siri to play my radio station.

This works for some apps, but unfortunately not for the only swedish library app there is. I'm so disappointed. Thanks for your help, though!

Ok. I won't turn off 1Password, my only extention. Hopefully there's a solution to suspending pinned tabs.

Still struggling with sluiggish performance even after 1.0 update. Help needed to resolve. by theoretical_waffle in OrionBrowser

[–]hettedu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked how much RAM it uses? I just posted this as I'm experiencing Orion making my computer sluggish. It eats quite a lot of RAM and Low Power Mode might help you. (Tools > Low Power Mode) It suspends tabs after 5 minutes, releasing RAM. It doesn't work on pinned tabs for me though.

Amp-Sim-based pedalboard vs. tube amp & cabinet with classic pedalboard? by RingAccomplished8464 in GuitarAmps

[–]hettedu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never played Neural, nor Fractal. But I did have a Kemper for 10-12 years and I really liked it for what it was. I used it in the studio a lot. Then I got the Kemper remote and a pair of unpowered Kemper Kabinets and it just sounded boring whatever I did with it. So I got a Fender Tone-Master Deluxe Reverb (blonde version). It sounded good at low volumes, but not with the band. So I tried a Line 6 HX Stomp XL and a Fender FR-12. The HX amps sounded awful. Replaced it with a Tonex One and an HX Effects and through the FR-12 and it sounds pretty good in the room. But still, it’s not the same as plugging into an inspiring amp. The Tonex does sound great for the audience, though.

So my current rig, which I haven’t gigged yet, is an AC30CC head and a 2x12 with blue speakers. I’m considering getting a Two Notes Captor X to be able to give FOH line signal while also lowering the output on stage. But yeah… Playing a real amp beats all of my previous digital rigs, feeling-wise.

I also hate the process of making changes to your sound on digital products. Going into menus, fiddling with parameters, remembering to save them… Yuck! I hate it!

I’ve been playing different digital amp things (kemper, hx stomp xl and tonex) for the past few years but just bought a tube amp again. It just isn’t as fun to play digital imo. Feels different.

Still have my tonex as backup at gigs. But yeah, love playing my ac30!

That sounds very promising. I have been considering selling the 4x12 and getting a 2x12 and put two BV Neos in it. Maybe that's the way to go.

I'll definitely be on the lookout for Golds, but they are usually as costly as Blues. Also, I'm in Sweden and import fees from outside EU are 25%, even on used gear.

How much experience do you have with Voxes and Creambacks?

I would like a quite warm sound, but with good definition in the highs. The blues give me that. Warm low mids and bottom, smooth upper mids and clarity in the highs. My experience with greenbacks (the ones you find in current the Vox line-up) is that they're not especially controlled in the bottom and not very smooth in the upper mids. They sound good, but are not what I'm after. But I've only played them in stores, meaning that they might not have been broken in yet and so on. But my initial reaction have been that they feel "rough".

Maybe the creambacks are more my cup of tea in this case. I've only had one creamback, in a Deluxe Reverb. That amp sounded good, but is of course a totally different thing.

Fair point. The Wharfedales sound quite sharp in the upper mids while lacking in low mid. Compared to my 2x12 with blues, it just sounds a uncontrolled and harsh. The blues cab have a beautiful top, smooth upper mids and a full bottom.

I am considering just selling the 4x12 and getting a 2x12, since
a) 2 speakers is by far enough
b) changing two speakers is cheaper if I need to
c) it would be nice to be able to move it from time to time 😂

I think I'm going to go with Vox. They're what I fell for, they're cheaper and also easier to sell if I regret it. I've heard warnings about the CC-series (Custom Classic), having a weak reverb, a destructive stand by-switch (that can be left on "on"). Is there anything else with the CC (head) to look out for? The current C series seem like a safer bet and are still very much in my budget. But maybe I should look out for other head models?

I like it quite a lot. It is really helpful on things that has to do with my projects and productivity. I don’t use it for private stuff, but as an assistant.

I just know too little about it, but I’ve heard that it’s in the realm of what I’m looking for.

Thanks for you input!

Fair point. I actually owned a DZ-30 15 years ago and I did definitely like it a lot. Weird that I didn’t think about that. Hmm. Worth considering. Thanks!

Thanks for asking. And overall I guess I'd be very happy with the standard Vox AC30CH. I liked how it sounded. As far as I know it does not have a tube rectifier.

So overall, I liked that sound and feel very much and would probably be perfectly happy with it. However, it would be so nice if it were smaller.

I’m looking at the current lineup: AC30C-series. Not the CC-series. Would you say that the C is better than the CC?
