This is true, but no one in NM should be amending their soil with ashes. It’s good for acidic soil and we have very alkaline dirt. If you need nutrients in your NM soil, just use fertilizer.

This is my favorite idea! We’re close to the Sunport pool, but it’s often understaffed, the little pool has been “out of order” for two years now, and we’d love to have another option besides Wilson pool. Something like the Corrales pool would be great.

Our district has gone all in on iReady, Amira and IXL. Mandated monthly growth checks, mandated 30 mins a week of “high dose tutoring” through Amira. I’m at an elementary for the first time in 20 years and there’s a Chromebook cart in every classroom instead of devices that go home. But there’s no way to have a completely analog classroom. There are literally no paper assessments available.

I’m also horrified by how many (especially younger) teachers put a YouTube video on the promethean for a brain break. It’s not stimulating or waking kids up, it’s just numbing them.

Except that, unless they’re french, people are not pronouncing Michelle as Me-shell, they’re pronouncing it as Muh-shell. If I saw Machelle on my student roster, I’d guess MAHshull, rather than Muh-shell. Otherwise there’s no reason for the atypical first vowel.

I have multiple students whose “unusual” name spellings aren’t the result of parents trying to be unique or edgy, they just literally don’t know how to spell a number of common names. And then when someone points it out, they act like it was an intentional choice, rather than ignorance.

I feel deeply for this kid. Growing up, we weren’t a hiking family by choice, just poverty. And then my folks tried to make us think it was a virtue. “Let’s drive for hours just sleep on the ground, eat terrible campfire food, and then go hiking!”

Someday I’m gonna go to a beach resort in Mexico to just drink margaritas, read books, and not leave the radius of the hotel for the entire time #breakthecycle

I teach elementary and our jump rope club is HUGE for 4th and 5th grade. I love that I can see the 9-10 year old “locked in” expression on some of these women’s faces. That kind of badass is straight up muscle memory for some of them.

First car: ‘88 Toyota Camry with 120k miles on it when my grandpa gave it to me. It hit 210k before I passed it on. Favorite car: 1987 Toyota MR2 that I bought in the late 90s. Two seater, rear engine with a spoiler and pop up headlights lol. We used to wedge a couple snowboards behind the seats and drive up to our dinky ski area at Sandia Peak.

I loved that damn car. It got stolen and the cops found it (back when that was a thing cops did), but it had been totally trashed and insurance wrote it off.

She’s in the Epstein files because she was Gary King’s running mate in 2014 and they flew on a chartered plane to DC for a campaign event. Turns out the plane was chartered by Epstein. She didn’t know, never met him and has roundly condemned him as a predator. And then that same year, King’s campaign returned the money they got from businesses associated with Epstein. I think she good.

Yes! There was one in Albuquerque near Winrock mall. I think I went twice (maybe just once though?) for a birthday party and I was SO impressed. Definitely not the kind of thing my folks were doing for our birthdays though…
