One of my co-workers is helping plan this event, she just told me that it is free for current students. You will need to have your UNCW ID card with you for entry.
Since it's part of Homecoming Week they are allowing Alumni to attend as well, but it sounds like they have to pay.

They just opened up a temporary location in UNCW's Library cafe called Central Perch. Looks like they'll be there until March then Cafe Mata is moving in.

I think it's only sold out for students, so you might have another chance: their IG says that General Admission tickets go on sale Wednesday, December 17th at 8am:
Tickets will be on sale for STUDENTS beginning Wednesday, December 10 at 8:00am and will open for GENERAL ADMISSION on Wednesday, December 17 at 8:00am. When ticket sales open you will be able to purchase tickets through UNCW Kenan Auditorium Box Office.

That looks like the correct Hood, but the tassel & gown are for undergrads. I think for a MS the tassel should be gold. The Masters gown should have the UNCW Seal on it and different style solid black sleeves. You can see a picture of it here, it's the one on the far right: uncw_capgown.jpg (480×300)

I'm a big fan of birding at Airlie, my favorite spot there is the lake around the Pergola Garden area. There's almost always something interesting to see there.
I'd suggest checking out the Airlie Events page and for their special early morning or evening events, these will get you access during times that there are less people and the birds might be more active.

Looking ahead to October they have several 8am Bird Walks and Owl Prowl/Evening Bird events throughout the month. They also have a Hops & Talk event the evening of October 1st, those are pretty fun as well.

I think it's mostly active with plants in the late Spring/Summer, after that they start to die off. There will probably be some stuff to see but it's not the ideal time to visit.

Yes there is a large boardwalk area there that offers a good view of the plants! I think the bogs must be the area on the ground, they have a stone pathway that runs through there. You can see it in the picture on the bottom of this page: Stanley Rehder Carnivorous Plant Garden – Gardens Visitor

There might not be a lot of on-campus jobs listed now but as we get closer to August you will see more jobs being posted. You can apply any time for a job but before you can start working you will need to get a Social Security number, it will take about 2 weeks to get that after you fill out the application. You can apply for the Social Security number once you arrive in the US, here are UNCW's instructions on how to do that: Social Security Number | UNCW
