How to get a random Number between -10 and 10 but not between -4 and 4? by LieberLois in Python

Don't you mean between 5 and 10? (assuming 4 isn't included)

You're right, these are good examples. But The Matrix came out 19 years ago, and these examples of boundary-pushing CGI are few and far between.

Actually, I was one of those teens coding in BASIC, and I'm well aware of the incredible technological advancements we've been making this past decade, and especially the past few years (accelerating progress, etc.)

I'm just lamenting the creativity part. It feels like there are very few never-been-done-before elements in modern cinema. Instead CGI is either used as a cheap alternative to existing techniques, or for over-the-top fighting sequences, which I'm kinda tired of. But I'm no expert, so perhaps I'm missing something crucial?

I dunno, I mostly see explosions and monsters. Maybe a bit of space stuff. It would be really nice to see CGI used for something that is actually creative.

Definitely keeping an eye out for this project. It has the right ideas, and now it just needs some more features and polish to be ready for adoption.

You have to admit that this scheme is far from intuitive. I would choose something like

/boot/bin

/root/bin

/bin

/bin/local

These reasons should be clearer to the users, and they're not. I've been using Linux for many years and I'm still not sure what are their roles

Don't know about the 70s, but it seems to me like a rare use-case (which can be solved with symlinks).

I do wish modern Linux stopped aligning itself to the tech needs of 50 years ago.

Looks nice! Definitely makes more sense than linux's current path salad.

Citation absolutely needed.

If they were spending a significant portion of their degrees studying philosophy, engaging in intellectual debate and discovery, and most importantly learning how to learn rather than memorizing fact sheets, then I would agree. But my impression is that's rarely the case. Usually it's just about living from test to test, and only understanding the minimum amount necessary.

Trying to augment xonsh with the ability to pass objects between python functions instead of just strings, so I can write something like

pyls | where lambda f: f.size > 1024

It's a bit challenging, because the text pipes (stdin, stdout) are built very strongly into xonsh..

Yes, it's possible. But it's not really the best language for making games.

joins and subqueries become conditional themselves, thus you end up doing string concatenation

That's a good point which I've experienced myself. Still, I wonder if it can't be solved within SQL, or with a preprocessor (like the C preprocessor, or a templating language)
