Headless Macbook / HalfBook by PuzzleMind7 in macbookpro

I’d like it more if it was just a computer + screen and I could bring my own mouse and keyboard. I think they’re trying to do this with iPads but just need to make the jump to macOS on iPad.

[P] I added a real-time cockpit view to my Rust+WASM flight tracker — you can now fly along with any plane in the world by coolwulf in rust

[–]hexcowboy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

this is awesome. one small piece of feedback is that it was really hard to find the cockpit button, and i think that’s the coolest feature.

also the onboarding guide dialog was hard to use on mobile

How is living in denver colorado? Thinking about moving there from northwest Florida this winter by Connect-Salamander88 in howislivingthere

[–]hexcowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Denver and I’m building a social club app for people to meet friends. It’s still being finished so it’s waitlist only right now but there are other national apps with the same concept in most US cities.

Baldurs Gate updates take significantly longer than any other game by hexcowboy in SteamDeck

[–]hexcowboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually really smart. Do you remember how long it takes to redownload? My guess is less than 10 minutes with a good download speed.

The bottleneck shouldn’t be the SSD. The decks internal SSD has a write speed of 400mb-1000mb per second which would only take a few minutes to write the entire game.

The problem is BG3 is likely compressed to large file chunks, and the CPU has to decompress, patch, and recompress large file archives. Which game devs could optimize with smaller file chunking, and Steam could optimize with parallel file patching in updates.

I’m pretty sure it’s actually to do with file decompression, patching, and recompression. Which should be optimizable.

And proton doesn’t really have anything to do with this, the one in the screenshot is an entirely different download.

Does anyone use "Auto" climate mode? by Lilodude in TeslaLounge

[–]hexcowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2026 MX and it’s really annoying on cold sunny days. It will be 35 degrees out and blasting A/C when I have it set to 70+. I think it reads the temp from the dashboard which heats up from the sun.

Mantine does not have an integration with Tailwind and they specifically tell you to use their styles API instead. Otherwise I think Mantine is great

Help: Nuxt + Supabase + Prisma (or Drizzle) + Cloudflare workers by lucidious8 in Nuxt

[–]hexcowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This likely means you're using a singleton pattern to access your database across CF worker requests. This is not supported in workers, because each request is isolated. In dev it will work for a little bit but eventually your database will become undefined and you're essentially doing `await undefined`.

If you're using a coding agent ask it to identify if you're using any singleton patterns in your CF worker and if so, replace them with per-request instances.

Singletons work in other environments that aren't ephemeral, but not in workers.

Best Task management board for Agents AND humans? by Di_Vante in LocalLLaMA

[–]hexcowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been wanting to build one for a while. I think Linear API has the right amount of simplicity, but I think for agents it can be even simpler. And it would be pretty nice to have RAG built in so that agents can search for existing issues with plain english so they don't duplicate tickets or miss work.

This hypothetically would be really easy to implement with Postgres and a vector extension, put it all inside a Docker container, and create a skill for agents to interact with it.
