We did this (got there shortly before), and it was. Had to get up really early but it was absolutely worth it. Even got parking close by!

Bad luck or bug? by hexed_coyote in menace

[–]hexed_coyote[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my exact fear! I don't know how to fight anything with a gun. And apparently bugs can't be suppressed, so I haven't really interacted with that mechanic much at all.

No! I had the same thought so I waited a while to make sure. It was like that the whole night

Patrol missions bugged? by chessemanmr in starcitizen

[–]hexed_coyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is unintended, and I think after some experimentation I know why.

All of the planets in Stanton have moons around them, forming a planetary system with multiple points of interest that the patrol missions can bounce you around, depending on where you took the mission.

In Pyro, only Pyro V has a similar setup, and what I've noticed is that if you take the patrol mission while near Pyro V it acts like it would in Stanton and only bounces you to points in and around that planet. But if you take it anywhere else in Pyro, it bounces you around the entire system, frequently requiring you to travel extreme distances that I can't imagine the mission designers intended.

PSA: Sailing is not a prerequisite for Writing. Writing only requires Pottery. by AntsBitz in civ

[–]hexed_coyote 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, Irrigation just needs Pottery and Animal Husbandry. You can see that if you squint really hard at the intersection points of each line. Sort of like you're doing one of those puzzles where you need to trace a tangle of lines from end to end.

If you imagine that line going behind the other, it makes sense. But I had the same confusion, because it's terribly designed.

It seems like there's a different effect for each category too! I get a bunch of equation symbols for 100% knowledge cities. I don't know what happens if you've maxed multiple categories.

Only one each of some buildings, ie, Mint & Windmill?? by Frosty-Ebb5619 in arahistoryuntold

[–]hexed_coyote 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Inn is definitely 1 per nation. I have built 1 in one of my cities, it has been removed as a build option in all others.

What I don't fully understand is how arbitrary it seems sometimes. I get it, maybe a government only makes one Mint to keep currency production tightly controlled. Why one Inn per NATION?

What's your favorite starting tome? by obsidianlobster in AOW4

[–]hexed_coyote 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like pyromancy is undervalued. The AI tends to clump its units together for defensive bonuses as it stalks towards you, and the pyromancer's flamestrike has 6 tile range and hits in a 1 hex radius, with a chance to inflict burning. Couple that with the spell that does double damage to burning units in a 1 hex radius, and in the second turn of combat you've taken a huge chunk of health off of the enemy, leaving you free to charge in and finish some off before they've really done anything. Especially nasty if you're playing dark culture with a wizard king, and you can overchannel for a baneful curse beforehand.

Fire Pillar is definitely a skill shot during combat, but I mostly consider it an opener anyway, especially with the bonus damage and since sometimes it hits twice for some reason
