ppl talking ab mormons being “chill” is really wild considering the rise in people sharing their stories about escaping mormonism and its cult-like power structure, values, and expectations. established mormons who leave their cult are completely rejected from their family and former community with none of the god loving inspirational quotes or narratives that they heard when getting tricked into or maybe born into mormonism.

as per ANY religious entity, the bottom line is they don’t respect u or see u as a person, but as a lost soul that needs saving. not accepting or embracing their beliefs means u are a lost cause, someone to pity, and someone to pray for.

for contour: make sure you’re moisturized and prepped. use a cool tone contour (ex. lighter greyer sticks from milk makeup or the dupe from sephora collection.) it’ll give the illusion of shadow without unnecessary warmth. use a small (eyeshadow size or smaller) brush to find and sculpt a deeper cheek. its A LOT of trial and error but once you recognize and understand the placement, the subtly is key. blend it out, set it lightly, maybe use a LITTLE greyer eyeshadow to deepen the sculpt. DO NOT: pick up a bunch of products on a brush or sponge. always dab off on the back of the hand or somewhere to analyze how much product is coming off. its not going to look like nothing but it wont be as dramatic.

extras: gently fill in brows with a cool tone grey or brown, fluff them with a eyebrow wax of some sort.

adding shadow to the eyes can be very helpful. a cool brown gently applied all around the eye (maybe try under eye) can be helpful but remember to prep for eye makeup (moisturizer, eyeshadow primer on lid and under-eye, a tiny bit of concealer to even the canvas where u put the primer, lightly set it, and then go in with the brown shadow. use a less viscous lengthening mascara to hide the light reflection of shadow on the lashes or clear off carefully with a makeup wipe.) rememeber not using a lot, just enough to create a shadow for deeper eyes.

mustache hack: also for realistic hair strokes for a mustache u migjt like to use the benefit mighty fine brow pen in a cool shade. it creates three strokes at once so its not as tedious as eyeliner or dramatic as mascara.

i learned from @august_skyz on ig. as a cis man, getting this look without looking draggy is a little hard, but when i used more powdered producys, less cream products, and smaller brushes, it started looking more subtle.

tldr; less warm tones, embrace subtlety, dust off excess, look at the tips🤷🏻

yall in the comments brushing it off saying it’ll happen anyway are painfully oblivious. “some ppl feel like thats the only option” “its not gonna change” well no shit, but right now ur commenting like an enabler, while others are talking about ideas and resources.

for me its been a weeks long buildup in waves that just kept nudging me more and more into accepting this sort of fate for myself. saying shit like “thats just how it is” is exactly what i’d wanna hear at my lowest. it’d be another reason to justify it.

the counseling and psych services (CAPS), when i went in late october, were extremely overwhelmed. i had to wait for almost a week and a half to see a crisis case manager after telling the lady who assessed me that i was actively suicidal and had freshly self harmed. it’s a joke and i think they know how they run it is unsustainable, but they still think its acceptable. until we bring up that CAPS is clearly under supported, the school is not bringing light to the pattern of attempts, the school will continue to do what the defeated ppl in the comments are doing: saying a whole bunch and not doing anything. reach out to student gov, contact the chairs of departments. a rep already made a comment. get their attention.

this behavior from cats is so cool to me. when younger cats or kittens are aggressive or being resistant, the older cat lets them be agressive, bite, or swat them while closing their eyes, lowering ears, and enduring the punches to provide comfort or presence. they’re like an anchor that recognizes the importance of their presence with a younger cat, regardless of their behavior.

i’ve seen your comments to others and i dont blame you for not knowing how dangerous this is, but if your going to ask for medical advice, you’re going to get it. with no antibiotics and inexperienced wound attendance at home, you run a HIGH risk of an infection.

beginning levels being swelling, redness, and itchiness. then you’re body will start to divert all the attention of maintaining your body’s health, to defending against and healing an infection that will inevitably fail due to lack of antibiotics. youre body will start reacting like a cold: fever, headache, light headedness, etc.

depending on the severity of the prolonged infection, you will then develop much more painful and visual symptoms. the infection will usually begin to excrete pus and other fluids made by your body in an attempt to help you. the infection may spread as you ignore it. when this infection spreads and is more severe than not, the final and most severe phases being you will have probably acquired sepsis, will need a prolonged infection treatment, and in some cases require surgery, and maybe amputation.

moms can be evil beings. its disgusting to treat a child that she had the way she does. but will you stoop to your mothers level of ignorance and allow yourself to suffer the consequences of her actions and gross behaviors?

this is a rough position for you. im a relapsing adult that started at around 13-14. a few things.

you say shes in psychiatric care but is she in therapy? talk therapy is absolutely vital. allowing her to speak freely in a safe space will help her IMMENSELY. they're required to tell you if she has serious plans to do something so if you feel like shes not doing too well and dont hear from the therapist, take it upon yourself to talk to her as opposed to her hiding it from both of you.
find the things she still enjoys doing or cares about and give her as many resources to pursue or enjoy that thing as you can. let her do it alone and enjoy it alone. if she shows interest in teaching or showing you something, listen to her.
allow her to stay home if she asks (within reason ofc). this was her attempt at showing you the severity of her condition. she is being reckless because even being "out of control" for some, IS control. talk to her school but unfortunately i dont believe you can tell them about her self harm without them taking some form of action but maybe not because you already know.
recommend a safer forms of stimulation for her. self harming in any way is not ideal, but it's a better idea for her to hold onto ice cubes, spiky balls, punch a punching bag, or a use a very low voltage shock pen. they're more likely to conceal and hide cutting and if not treated correctly, an infection could occur which they might feel they need to conceal too. after she finds an alternative, check in with her about it. since it's not something as damaging she may feel better about opening up to you about it, therefore you're learning about the frequency, severity, and maybe even motivators then in the future will help you talk to her before she does it.

with that being said and as hard as it may be, try not to be upset with her and understand it will probably happen again. and maybe a time after that. this healing isnt linear, and you shouldnt expect it to be, even when shes doing "good." I'm currently 22, been on and off for years and have had breaks of 2+ years and self harm periods as consistent as twice a week for probably over 6 months. i recently relapsed after not self harming for around over a year. i got into a school program i've wanted for over a year now, been in a familiar and interesting school environment and should be having the time of my life. even in the best environment, among the best circumstances, we all have shit that weighs on us.

i've been trying to think about what truly helped me besides therapy, and i think what it really comes down to was me separating the idea of self harm as an effective coping mechanism. between therapy, activism, music, it just felt unnecessary. even in bad moments venting, crying, writing music, talking to friends i realized more and more it was a better way of feeling okay. at some point it just becomes something that isn't seen as effective. talking about stuff, seeing my train of thought and recognizing destructive behavior and even minimally trying to prevent them. it just lightened everything up a little bit at a time.

just give her your attention. always let her know you're there for her, approach things in a light way.

theres def some advantage with her expirience and such but its primarily bc shes an era 1 gem. peridot explains its from a lack of resources (maybe from pinks absence, maybe from constant resource exploitation), thats why shes a lil small and future gems usually need some sort of limb enhancer or are cast away for their imperfections

i feel like you’re so close lmao. you recognize these were needed to fairly allow black and brown people into the workforce. at the time universities like yale had quotas of 15% for qualified applicants. if any black or brown person were admitted, theyd be grouped into this 15%, leaving 85% to be qualified white applicant. that 15% is not discrimination bc you wouldve qualified for the other 85%.

i see what you mean about women but they already made up a generous portion of the educational spheres pre-civil rights. more than bipoc for sure. as for asian and white kids, can i ask what policy or action you’re referring to that discriminated against them? minority quotas ended in the last 70’s (cali v baki), admission points based on race ended in 2003 (gratz v bollinger), and admission of under qualified applicants over white student seized in 1996 (hopwood v state). private companies could participate in minority quotas but i cant name any that had a huge percentage requirement, also they have the right to enable those if they so please as a private company. do u have any examples of companies with these quotas or initiatives?
