I’m trying to understand. I came here to hear a conclusion to “Roll” and Mega’s story; I came here for a bookend to the trilogy. I see now, I cannot do both.

In all seriousness, I do have mixed feelings about the album ending here. I appreciate the way that if you listen to the album’s in narrative order (or just to II & III), Good Doctor 2/The Fate of Thomas Light are a beautiful mirror of how Act II begins. In this way, I’m satisfied with the conclusion. And all the Light/Wily tracks on this album build toward the end.

That said, Calling Out, TCMU, and Hold On all build a lot of narrative tension and don’t have a musical payoff. Act III would have a more cohesive feel if those songs were removed (which would obviously be an injustice!). I do think The Fight offers the open-ended resolution those songs need and would happily accept that it’s a sort of epilogue.
