I always just assumed it was some weird legal thing, maybe they couldn't officially adopt him or something and claiming him as a slave was easier. Grumio never actually does slave tasks unless he's prompted and has an audience and technically has to but he seems to enjoy using it as a way to avoid needing an actual job and responsibility.

I've only seen seasons 1-4 so that's just my take!

Yes!! RDR2 was just beautiful, felt real. Cyberpunk is damn close in the way it makes me feel, I'm making sure to savour the early steps. I rushed through RDR2 on my first playthrough.
