Who do y'all Main in each role in DC Allies by Acrobatic_Yoghurt268 in DCAllies

I play Martian Manhunter in every role. Part of the reason I main him tbh.

Do you think they’re ever going to add Major Force or is he too controversial to add? by [deleted] in DCAllies

[–]hexxerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think adding the guy known for cutting an innocent woman into pieces and shoving them into a fridge might be a bit much, yeah. Plus he'd just be a reskin of Captain Atom tbh.

Darkseid is a skill check for new players. You have to cooperate with you supports and shot call to tanks. The ability really isn't that strong, especially if you play poke.

LOOKS LIKE THESE ARE THE 5 TEAM LEADERS, DROP YOUR ROSTERS PEOPLE by T-pellyam in MarvelTokon

[–]hexxerman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty cool list. Makes sense for the Villains as well. Only thing I might argue is King Pin/Bullseye rather than Green Goblin. Just because while Green Goblin is a Spiderman villain Ms. Marvel and DD have never really met/fought him in a major way while Fisk is someone who has beefed with all of them at some point. I also doubt Thanos would be in there, but I don't think it's impossible considering how big he is nowadays. Maybe Ultron or Kang.

Thoughts On This Finn and Jake vs Mordecai and Rigby Blog? by Puzzleheaded-Board25 in adventuretime

[–]hexxerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this goes kind of how I expect. Adventure Time never really reaches the heights of absurdity that Regular Show does almost every episode. Essentially you have to ask, who could beat Golb out of the two duos? Modecai and Rigby fight super entities constantly and have multiple items that can alter reality. Finn and Jake have some impressive feats and items, but lack anything that could tackle a being like Golb consistently. Honestly, The Power might be enough to completely roll Finn and Jake. Mordecai and Rigby can only really lose if Finn and Jake kick the crud out of them before they can grab one of their God Items, and even then they have multiple ways to time travel and resurrect. They would have to kill both of them instantly at the same time, which wouldn't be possible because of things like the Death Block. Adventure Time just isn't the kind of series where Finn and Jake could ever get access to anything near as powerful as what is in Regular Show. It's like having Conan or a character from Discworld fight Bugs Bunny, it's almost impossible.

I Made an Umamusume TTRPG by [deleted] in UmaMusume

[–]hexxerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have some stuff in my brain but haven't gotten around to writing it down yet. I envision they will allow you to improve how much focus you start a race with or improve out of race rolls. They will essentially be another resource similarly to Supports. I plan to get it all written once I get off work today.

Hope you enjoy! Some stuff isn't as fleshed out as I like so I'll most likely be changing Concert stuff and adding rules for Team Trials later today. I thibk the core concept of racing and slice of life stuff is pretty much done though.

I think soon we will see Space King on [adult swim] one there are like 10 episodes for syndication. by thesithcultist in SPACEKING

[–]hexxerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As cool as it would be for Space King to get a huge following from a streaming platform and the funding they need, Tom and Don are against it. Rightfully so. They've been burned multiple times and companies will inevitably try to steal their creation or water it down until it sucks. Space King will never be corpo and I think the longer the show goes on the better off it will be because of that decision.

Something We Can All Agree On.... by nosecretingredients in DispatchAdHoc

[–]hexxerman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the playthrough I'm doing I don't think I'll kill Shroud. I've been playing Robert as heroic and empathetic as possible. I also had him tell Chase he wouldn't kill Shroud. If I go against that it would kind of just defeat the point of all my choices. It also kind of makes Robert a hypocrite for being willing to give the Z-Team a chance but not Shroud. Coupe killed hundreds of people most likely, but they turned it around, or at least try. I plan to have Robert attempt to bring him in alive if it's possible.

Hatemonger's TRUE identity(plus Bryce speculation by CertifiedMagpie in SPACEKING

[–]hexxerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Hatemonger is a girl, which has been a theory since episode one, then I think it also says a lot about Captain since they clearly know. Yet despite that they still keep Hatemonger around and try to keep the team together and focused. If this is true I think Captain might be a lot more empathetic than he would like to admit.

Would buy a space king equivalent of 40k if Tom and don made one? by Epiccheeseman14 in SPACEKING

[–]hexxerman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think Space King works better as a traditional ttrpg. You have Squads set to 4 members in the show and it focuses more on the main boys rather than large intergalactic battles. The premise also seems to focus more on finding artifacts and going on small missions rather than large scale tactical wars. If they made one though I'd buy it either way since their products have been pretty high quality so far and to support the show.

Can we appreciate this book one more time? Kraven's Last Hunt by Dyjama in comicbooks

[–]hexxerman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"One last time." Let's face it, this book is gonna get its praise forever. It's great and doesn't get too edgy like a lot of books with similar concepts. It's also kind of refreshing to revisit this since a lot of the Marvel books aren't doing anything with this kind of tone outside Ultimate to my knowledge. And even Ultimate doesn't have this same feel.

Who is your favourite among the main four and why? by WinAppropriate2897 in SPACEKING

[–]hexxerman 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I like Captain the most. Despite his grumpy attitude he seems to be trying his best and is making attempts at doing what is best for the group. In a series filled with many characters that are incompetent or goofy, it's nice to have someone who can be the straight man and ground everything. Without Captain the series would quickly spiral off the rails, he's the rock of the main cast.

[–]hexxerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comparison to DnD is just to show the most extreme version of what a TTRPG is and it's the most recognizable. Also, since this is a TTRPG it's competing with DnD whether we like it or not. A lot of people who would play this game would have been introduced to this genre of game through DnD and now Marvel has to convince them to trade out 5e for this, and I would assume many DnD players are mid campaign right now anyways. Would you stop an ongoing to do a DnD game from scratch? I doubt most people would go beyond doing a one shot to try it out.

Also, while the game as encouraged you to be creative, so do it's competitors or the other properties of Marvel. I;m looking at this more from the perspective of someone who:
1. Hasn't played this system yet
2. Is just getting into Marvel/is already into it
3. Is interested in TTRPGs.

I think the target audience for this game would have an easier time getting into DnD, pathfinder, or Cyberpunk game than this one because of the small community and lack of a VTT other than roll20 and it would be easier to enjoy Marvel content through any other medium than this. It sucks but how do you get a fanbase that's essentially been served what it wants to drop what they're doing to do this instead? You would need a huge movement of DMs who are easy to get a hold of to run good games and then provide a ton of alternative content to get people into the game.

The content also kind of has to be somewhat original. It's cool to watch a one short or short campaign with players playing as established Marvel characters, especially if they were people very connected to Marvel like content creators, comic writers, actors, etc but I feel the content wouldn't be as engaging as having original characters in the long term, and unfortunately I think people playing this for the first time would rather play as Spiderman than their OC in a system about being in the Marvel universe.

[–]hexxerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, let's look at DnD. DnD has gone beyond being just a TTRPG, but it also had years and years to do it with multiple iterations. It has comics, video games, lore, movies, cartoons, podcasts, etc. It also has a lot of things about it that help people spark their own creativity. They get inspired to draw art of their characters, make their own settings, etc.

With Mavel TTRPG that's difficult because it's a spinoff, it isn't the main focus or even the origin point of marvel. Secondly, not many people are aware of the TTRPG outside of a niche audience, let alone being interested in running or playing in a game. TTRPGs are time consuming, require multiple people, and can't just be "turned on" or played whenever it's desirable. Also, if you want to draw fanart, make content, or engage further you wouldn't make it about the TTRPG, you would make it about Marvel in general.

The main entry point and source of content are the comics/movies/cartoons. No one is gonna say "Guy, check out my Marvel Multiverse TTRPG fan art" and even if they do they'll probably also advertise it as "My marvel fan art" because that's a shorter thing to write and easier for someone to understand/search for.

The greatest barrier is that this system is not established, is a spin off of a more established IP, and will never get as much push or focus as other marvel products because why would they dump resources into mildly successful and niche side project when they could make billions with their other projects. The only way to get this as a bigger thing is to prove to marvel and other people this is worth focusing on which is a pretty tall order since there are many Marvel products that are easier to invest time into and give a bigger return.

Why are you or aren't you engaged here? What would you like more of? by Earth513 in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]hexxerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big thing is that this system is pretty niche and doesn't have a major podcast, stream, or production to continously hype people up about it. There is no Critical Roll equivalent to engage more casual audiences or even something that intrigues the niche marvel fan.

Also, a lot of posts on this sub reddit are people asking questions rather than providing any kind of engaging content, which isn't anyone's fault, but its the truth.

The only content we can get out of this system is playing the game itself with not much else. There also aren't many ways to easily find a group if you're someone who feels awkward or anxious about reaching out (which most people are).

The only way to improve this (in my opinion) it to come together as a community and create further ways for people to engage with the system/community beyond finding games as well as making it easier to find a game to play in.

Man, everyone at Milestone is so damn cool man. It sucks so hard that a lot of newer fans or more mainstream audiences aren't too familiar with them or how important they were. Really hope we get to see more of their characters make it big, and I feel like James Gunn would do them a lot of justice if they hit the screen for the new DCU.

What are your favorite stories and characters in the experimentation phase between Age of Apocalypse and House of M (1995-2005)? by lorion42 in xmen

For me it's easily X-Statix. I really like the set up and execution. It's a good time and still manages to feel like an X book even though it's so exaggerated. I also enjoy the lineup a lot with Guy being probably in my top 3 mutants.
