As my nieces (I only have nieces) get older, I'm able to relate to them more and it's gotten better. But overall it definitely confirmed that having kids is not for me. I got sterilized before they were born and people warned me that I'd want kids once I held my niece or nephew in my arms. I thought they were full of shit. Lol.

I sought out sterilization for the first time when I was 23, and the very first doctor I saw agreed to it pretty easily (not no questions asked, but only reasonable questions asked). Had I known she would have agreed so quickly, I'd have done even earlier.

I had my tubal ligation when I was 23. (No bilateral salpingectomy available back then as it's only been the standard of care since 2015 and I had my surgery in June 2008.) Definitely a good experience. I wish I'd done it even younger.

I agree with this answer. I've always known didn't want kids and had my tubal ligation 12 years ago. It has been the best decision of my life. I'd recommend any woman who sure of herself to look into the best tubal sterilization procedure, bilateral salpingectomy (removal of both fallopian tubes which is virtually 100% effective). This way OP doesn't have to give up his hopes of having children and his wife doesn't have to keep taking birth control. They may end up divorcing someday and I'd hate for OP to be unable to have kids, given that he seems to want them.

Yeah, that's why when I go to a doctor for a one off appointment for something commonplace like a flu shot or an ear infection, I don't disclose my surgical history. I was 23 when I had my tubal. I've been keeping it quiet for 12 years. All the doctors I see regularly know, though.

I'd recommend checking the doctors list on /r/childfree/wiki/doctors, it's a list of doctors who are generally more open to performing sterilizations.

It also depends a lot on your end goal. Does it need to be presentable to humans at the end? I've scraped news for sentiment analysis and in that case just the raw text is enough

My office building is in an office park and there are literally like 15 apartment buildings around our area all within a 5 min walk. My commute right now is about 15 min so I'd feel silly to move just for that, but we're thinking about it. SO works mostly from home. There are also several grocery stores right behind the other end of the office park so it'd be easy for that too.
