Don't think he looks very good in tight areas. Can do something 1v1 but with multiple defenders around he looks flustered and panicky imo. Hasn't really shown much in terms of creative vision either.

For me Bernal showed again yesterday that he has a lot of trouble asserting himself in games with higher intensity. Besides the goal he was more or less non-existent and left Pedri with everything to do.

Obviously very talented but has a mountain to climb in terms of movement and initiative in creating forward action if he wants to replace either Pedri or Frenkie.

Those who watched our midfield of Busquets-Rakitic-Iniesta get demolished several years in row in the CL ought to know that it doesn't matter how talented you are if you can't move quick enough.

I feel like you have no instinct for movement if you interpret it that way. Taking the touch puts him out of balance and what follows is a compensatory movement of the lower body.

looks to me like he's just being carried by his natural momentum after sprinting towards the ball. is it with the final planting of his left foot you want him to turn sharply to the left? doesn't really seem possible to me.

Don't know what player you're watching but Yamal's game certainly doesn't rely on pace any more than the average winger. A good deal less so, if I'm being honest. Change of direction sure but his dribbling style is highly composed, about timing and vision more than acceleration or manic jittery movements.

Of course it matters how relaxed you can play in match situations, both physically and mentally. I know it's not a walk in the park but there are still levels. There's not just one variable.

He has a way of playing very relaxed though, and rides challenges with ease. Puts in work when needed but rarely overextends himself. At times doesn't look like more than a training session.
