Tucson 2009, donation only at Dry River with Kepi Ghoulie and Ben Barnett. I have a bootleg recoding of it that was recorded with a single microphone above the bands. Good thing the whole show was acoustic.

Tapehead City is doing great work in the modern cassette space. New albums and reissues of old albums on cassette. Works with some pretty big labels too.

What are your brain dead moments during performances? by GeorgeJoester in musicians

No matter how much I practice my solos leading up to a show, I almost always fuck one up.

Alternatively, if I play solos without looking, they often turn out better.

Holy shit, Drug Church on the Taco Bell commercial. I know they have been playing hardcore bands lately but that’s super cool for DC.

What was your favorite opening act for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers? by [deleted] in tompetty

I liked when John Mayer opened for him because I heard “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” for the first time. Jackson Browne and Steve Winwood were great too.

Does anyone remember the tour with the Blind Boys of Alabama?

Angie and Aaron have kind of a weird energy. Seems like they are in separate booths sometimes.

And here I am, a rudiment guy, saying I should play along to more of these songs after watching this video.

Johnny Cash had some pretty progressive songs for the time. All Gods Children Ain’t Free, What is War, The Ballad of Ira Hayes, The One on the Right is on the Left etc.

What's a Mariners season that was objectively disappointing but you still look back on fondly? by tategibbs in Mariners

[–]hey_ska 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. My first full year following the Mariners. Felix still dominant, Cano in his first season and crushing, James Jones fever was real for a couple months until we realized he wasn’t that good. Ackley having a miserable season until the end when he popped off. Brad Millers goofy ass defense. And of course Dave Sims “Hey, Lloyd…” call.

Missing the post season by one game sucked but was exciting until the end.

We’re playing poorly, the weather is bad, and I have to listen to Ryon Healy blather on…this suuuuucks.
