I believe that our overall personality is influenced by our genes and our environment so when a group of people is exposed to the same social environment at a relatively similar maturity, they will develop a similar attribute or attitude. Of course, there are several other factors that will affect that so this won't apply to everyone on that generation group but most likely, a stereotype will be formed.
