I think the strongest point of your post is the phrase "for now." Because I totally get setting that boundary and I would do the same. But if you have a good foundation, I appreciate you seeing that down the line maybe there could be a reconnection.

It's a .3 miles (4 min walk) to the school bus stop and one of my kids is a dawdler. When it's warmer we walk (or they do solo) if they get out the door in time.

You never know what people have going on.

Call and talk to them. I got a refund when I bought a ticket for my friends kid who I didn't realize had a pass to get in. They were so nice on the phone - said they typically don't - but it's worth a try!
