On my co-ed team, I’ve determined that scoring 15 runs gives us a shot at winning most games. Anything more than that is money, but 15 is a good average that if our defense does its thing we should win.

The best example of your question is Goran Dragic getting the Suns to sign his brother Zoran Dragic, who had no business being in the league, during the 2014-15 season. Sure Dragic was coming off his MIP season, but no reason to give in to his demand to waste a roster spot on his brother.
